A VQ loping like a Diesel or a V8

Ok I know with my other problems, my car is beggin to be taken apart and cleaned and tuned up, but this one is the one that scares me...

This afternoon after another long startup process, my car sounded like it was really loping like a Diesel or a V8... Not good because I like the smooth tone of a VQ, not the wah-wah-wah-wah noise, which could only be heard clearly from the muffler. You could feel the whole car shuddering with each lope, and it didn't even go away when I started moving, it continued until I turned the car off... When I started it back up the car ran fine, and now I'm like wtf? Ok, ok, I know the first thing I'm doing when I get home is a full tune-up, but I just hope it holds up for 770 miles...

Any ideas to what could be causing that lopyness? I will be under the hood of the car Sunday, Monday and possibly Tuesday, and I already got a list of things to do...

[Edit] There were/are no codes.

Not sure what you mean by "loping" but it sounds like a misfire of some sort, you can usually feel that inside the car. I say drive it like that for a while and you might get an engine light so you can check the code and that might help you.

Sounds just like a V8 or a Diesel at idle, and I will be driving it around for quite awhile... 12 hrs to be exact....

i would not suggest driving it around.

it sounds like a misfire issue. i'm sure you got a CEL for it. decode it to figure out which coil it is or just do the plug pull method.

Definitely sounds like a misfire. When one of my coils busted and it was running on five cylinders, it loped very badly and the muffler shook. Check your coils.

C4 there was not a CEL, and the problem went away, so I'm just gonna have my triple A card handy dandy for tomorrow, if it makes it, it makes it and I will be able to take everything apart, and give it the servicing it needs, if not... Waddup Triple A....

But I am adding Coils to the to-do list for Sunday.
