Final Tuning of rebuilt motor
I picked up the I30krab yesterday from Jim Wolf Technology. They had the car for a week and were doing the final tuning. the car is running great! The 65 shot of N2O fills in the initial lag while the SC is spooling up. The N2O cuts in around 2500 rpm and shuts off at 5500. The car hasn't been dynoed yet but Jim said it's putting out in the 400hp range at the flywheel. He compared my car to a tuned and modified 300XTT. Without the N2O the car's low end is good but not great but at 3500 RPM it hauls like a V8.
I'm using the 375 injectors that were blueprinted and balanced at RC Engineering and with or without N2O they are maxing out on the top end. I'm not going with bigger injectors, that's it!! On a turbo these injectors max out at around 420 HP and I think that's where I'm at.
The car winds up to 7000 with no effort because the rev limiter was raised to 7200. Don't forget, I have the new JWT cams and the heavier valve springs. The best thing about the cams is the longer duration and height on the exhaust side allowing the spent gasses to exit much faster. When we rebuilt the motor, we removed the restrictions in the exhaust manifolds and gasket matched and ported and polished the exhaust and intake manifolds allowing the motor to take advantage of the new cams!.
Jim and Clark had to raise the idle to 900 because of the loping from the cams. The computer is constantly trying to fine tune the idle but never quite gets there causing the motor to lope and turning up the idle practically eliminated this annoying sensation.
I'm very happy with the car but that's it with the speed mods bacause I'm waiting for the new Infiniti 35 convertible and if they don't make one I'll settle for a 300Z convertible!
By the way, on the way home from San Diego to Vegas yesterday a riced up late model civic with body armor and wheels etc. pulls up at around 70 mph and looks over and starts to punch it. I smiled and floored the car and left him like he was standing still. It was amusing to say the least.

Do you think you'd benefit from a MEVI? The power gains versus stock manifold at over 5500rpm are significant, and you car obviously makes a psychotic amount of power at 5000-7000rpm.
Damn - 400hp in a car the weight of a max/I30 - I don't think you have reason to fear pretty much any stock vehicle out there...

You know it! Hotter cams, 7200 rpm redline. Your car is just begging for the MEVI. Turbo97SE gained 35 hp at redline with his Maxima. You could gain maybe like 40 up top.

Althought you could always just buy some Nismo 555cc injectors and go for more power

OK, so your feul injectors are the limitation. But, after all that work, it's like you climbed 3/4s of Mt. Everest and the last part is relatiuvely easy. Upgrade your injectors and drop on a VI. I guess it's safe to say that you have the most powerful 4th, or even Maxima of any generation, period. Even without the VI. But you know there's a wee bit more in there

Ron, you can ramp up your fuel pressure and get more out of it.
I was getting 377whp (actual not SAE) (377whp*115%=433bhp/est)out of the stock fuel injectors at 85psi fuel pressure sunig a Vortech FMU with an 8:1 disk.
I would assume that your fuel pressure is ~55psi at WOT and full boost at redline with a 1:1 regulator. Using the 370cc injectors and going higher than 55psi you can go well into the 500bhp range if you tune it right using a rising rate regulator with a ratio higher then 1:1.
Anywhoo, glad to hear its running and I am looking forward to dyno numbers and track times. All that work and down time, its time for you to enjoy your baby for a little while

The way my car is presently tuned everything is controlled by the ecu.
I really don't race much so I'm happy with my present system ie no extra controllers for air, fuel, or timing. This way I don't drive my self crazy trying to fine tune the car with ***** and buttons. I am a perfectionest and I know I would be constantly fiddling. The only other way I could get more fuel would be with 550 injectors and presently this isn't an option, I am tired of throwing money at the car. I'm waiting for nissan to make a convertible G35 coupe.

To calculate for a 15% driveline loss, you'd do this:
377 / .85 = 443
Hey guys i have a rebuilt '04 motor in my '95 maxima. Just wondering what kind of immediate maintenance I should be looking at? Also i have new headers. I heard as you drive, the new headers will back off and will need to be tightened. Is this true?
