Clunking noise from front passenger side.
When I am rolling slowly to come to a stop, I hear this low clunking noise. It just started today. What could this be? The noise is coming from the front passenger wheel and seems like it only happens when going n a straight line. It only does it as im rolling slowly.

Well it may sound low because of my mods, and i can only hear it when the engine is at idle. It doesn't sound loud to me, but i can hear it when im rolling to a stop. And when I stop I kinda feel it in the brake pedal, when im almost stopped, if I press the brake lightly and let the car get very slow to a stop. Yes it is repetitve.

if you search for 'clunking' and 'front end' you will find recent threads on this. Many have found it to be worn stabilizer link and link bushings. I had a similar problem with my lowered 99, and replacing the stabilizer link and bushings got rid of it. It was not a difficult or expensive job.
Frozen caliper pins could cause the sounds as well, and our 4gens are certainly prone to this problem as well.

Having the same clunk sound on my 98 SE MT
The only time I hear the clunking (not continuously) is when I am braking. A lot of the time is seems to happen when i am turning slightly to the left and occationally you will hear it right (not as often as left). I just changed the rotors and pads about 2 weeks ago. When I replaced the brakes, the boots on the CV joints looked OK. I even tried to wiggle them to see if they were solid----and they were.
I did notice on all of my shocks, all 4 corners, the protective sleeves were dry-rotted and not protecting anything.....will this cause me any major concern?
I wonder if my Lower Control Arm Links are bad? It seems like the noise is coming from primarily the front pass side.
If anyone can help with a suggestion, please let me know what you think. If it is a link, I can definitely handle doing this myself.

Had the same noise, but don't know how to help you.
After I got annoyed, I threw it up on one of my lifts and saw something not so swell.
Two broken axle shaft boots and one broken driverside ball joint.
My car made crazy noise. Hahaha.
But the ball joint was broken before the axle shaft boots and that's when the noise started happening only when turning towards that side.
Check the ball joint/lower control arm bushings.
Hope this helps!

A friend of mine had a problem like this. It was the brake/rotor cover or something. It was a clunking or rubbing sound, mostly when he was turning. But an otherwise similar situation.
This thread (close to the end) seems to sum it up.

I just replaced the sway arm links and NO MORE CLUNKING or SQUEAKING!!!!!!!!!! Awesome thanks for the info.
The driver's side link was split in HALF!!!!!!!! That had to be where my clunking and squeaking was coming from.

I feel it in the brake pedal when im braking. Both of my inner tie rods r shot, ive got Dave B. shipping out a pair of new ones to me as we speak. One of my wheel sockets are shot as well, and that is getting fixed too. Could these be the problem?
