HELP, my wheel is pealing off.

I don't know what's wrong with it, maybe it's getting old, but my sterring wheel is pealling off like an orange. Although it's only on a left upper side, leather is just comming off. Anybody knows what's going one. It's 98 Maxima SE. My buddy has the same car same year, and his wheel is fine. Please let me know what can I do. Thank you.

Like a California Orange or a Florida Orange. There is a difference you know.
Is it tearing at the stitches? Or is it just falling apart (Calif. Orange)? If the thread is undone, just re-sew it... Take it to a car upholstry place, they can re-stitch it.

I 30, that was a good one. No but seriously. It looks like just pieces of leather are chipping out, they are just falling apart. Well, it's only where I hold my wheel the most. Just want to know if there is anything I can do to prevent it, besided holding my wheel in a different place. And is there any way I can put the sterring wheel of a 99 Infinity I 30, my buddy has a nice one with wood inserts, looks just like mine. Thanks for the help guys.

Thats wierd... don't hold the steering wheel so tight when you replace this one... he he he
I think your going to have to have it re upholstered. Or put a cover on it. Too bad your car isn't under warranty

this is wierd indeed..

i know that different people have different chemical make ups.. i heard of similar situations with leather clothing..

your sweat actually has acid in it.. or it's alkaline or seomthing...

it can actually digest leather.

it all depends on the person.

plus combination of that and the sun

I 30, actually I bought extanded warranty, I gotta check if it covers the sterring wheel. But does anyone has a seggestion of preventing the situation. Also how about the sterring wheel of a I 30, with wood insert, is there a way to put that on one. I really don't want to get one of those ugly cover, I hate them. Please let me know.
