Gauge Lighting question
Gauge Lighting question
I have reverse glow gauges on my car (installed by someone else), which I am getting sick of, so I wanna take them off. When they come off, what do I need to rewire to get my stock gauge faces to glow their natural glow when the headlights are on, or will they still glow regardless? I have no clue. thanks.
aright got 194 bulbs, but they dont fit, and even if I can make them fit somehow, is there anyway to put them on in those little holder things that all other bulbs already have so I dont have to solder them in? I checked autozone, pep boys, and advance but they just have the bare bulbs there, so soldering would be needed. I would rather get the bulb holder with the connector, rather than soldering. anyone know where I can get this, cause the main auto stores seem not to. anyone?
98-99 use a smaller bulb, I dont remember the size off the top of my head, 74 maybe. Indiglow gauges sit on top of the stock gauge faces and the stock bulbs light up the needles so Im surprised to hear you need bulbs.
they weren't exactly indiglo gauges, they were an older reverse glow gauges that come with their own wiring and a switch to switch them between blue and green color, and they were right on top of the stock gauges, and when I took them off, they stock gauges didnt glow when the lights were on, and I just noticed now, that whenever I turn the headlights on, there is a very piercing "bzzzzzzz" sound coming from the gauge cluster area. what the hell is going on?!?!

Have you not tried tracking down exactly where the sound is coming from?
sound has been fixed, it was the power supply for the white gauges. gotta get some bulbs for the gauges. I got the 194 but they were too big, so are the 74s the ones that fit? I also need to get the twist lock thing for the bulb so I dont need to solder, correct? thanks for the help.
I appreciate it man but I jus ordered some lights and twist locks from autolumination.com so I'm good, thanks though. Is there any wiring involved, like with the dimmer switch or whatnot, to make the lights work, or jus stick the bulbs in and I'm good? I'm clueless when it comes to wiring...

If it's all like stock, then it'll work like stock. If anything else has been modified, that may or may not need to be addressed prior to everything working as it should.
well the blue gauges never dimmed with the dimmer, if that makes a difference, so I assume everything is still like stock. But I have no idea why they took out the bulbs from behind the dash when they put them in
