What are some cheap fixes for our 4th gens?

I am always trying to find something to keep my Max from breaking down on the side of the highway.

I have 98 Max SE with 171k on the car and I am looking for preventative maintence ideas under $50 and can be done in less than a day.

Some of the items I have done:

Spark Plug change
Sway arm links
Tire Rotation and Balance
New Brakes (more than $50)
Cleaned the K&N filter
Gear oil Change (Redline Mt 90)

What are some of the other things you suggest that may need to be done to avoid a breakdown? [/COLOR] I, like a lot of other Max drivers, like to keep my car in great running condition.

TB, IACV, Fluid's (including but not limited to Oil, antifreeze, brakefluid, transmission fluid, power steering), belts, check your alternator and battery, thats about it.. These cars are rock solid... Until they break... im at 250K on my max and jsut replaced a good deal of things (Pad's, Rotors, Tires, Alternator after 190K, Starter after 200K, and battery after 215K) but since ive had the car which is 3 years ive put very little into it.. mainly electrical items from me being a stupid teenager with a system in my car, and general maintnence items... Designed obsolescence is a PITA. I bought my max with 190K miles and 175$ =]

lol at anything up there causing a horrible breakdown (with the possible exception of gear oil if your car has none)

Some people do just need to get for reponding like a

No, none of the items caused me failure because I was able to troubleshoot all the items listed .... I just want to make sure the little crap doesn't become a PITA and a huge $$$ pit in the future. I am sure others have the same train of thought, REPLACE BEFORE FAILURE!!!

I was mearly trying to see what others have to say about some preventative maintenance ideas.

If you have nothing to offer to the thread, please do not add your 2 cents.

I would rather help others who may want to read this thread to see some ideas for some cheap fixes. Thank very much I like to take care of mine things, especially my ride.

this is a maxima forum, 80% of the threads are about doing things the cheap way. You're not doing anything new.
As for what morpheus said, it's true....
