well all i can see is that the hood needs painting which i can do cheaply in my mechanic shop, and just change the ugly headlights and tails, if anything i can even change the battery and/or alternator although i hope its not that bad..well im going to see the car in about 4 to 5 hours anyways with my boy, is there anything i should look for? he stated that the emergency brakes dont work, is that a real problem?
im just really in it cause its worth 600

idk people plz give me your opinions

Parking brake not working could be as simple as a broken ratchet mechanism, or the entire system may need to be replaced. Impossible to say if you don't give us any details about it.

Have you searched? There have been many threads about 'what you should look for' when buying an A32.

What do you mean what I mean? Read my post again. Without details, everything in the parking brake system is potentially suspect.

I would pass.. a kid has already had his hand dipped into this car and there is no telling what they screwed up.

Any chance you can diagnose the CEL?

ehh i think hes like 30 something but ok well heres the plan then. tomrw morning im gonna look at the car and test drive it and see if there are any visible huge problems, he said that he is going on a 5 day cruise and when he gets back i can decide whether i want the car or not. so in those 5 days i can definately get a mechanic with me to check with an OBDII or something, and pmohr, i dont actually mind the ebrake not working although i have a huge thinking that its from the rear sway bar when he was installing it, like he tighted or loosed one of the cables by accident or its in the way, well thats what i read on the org.

and ehh its not gonna be my car that im keeping long or anything, it would be my car for exactly 1 year not more not less, so i can get my hand on it and know how to fix and mess with anything that pops up so that when im more experienced "next year" :-p
i can get something better and mod like i want... and besides, its for 600$...

what do you all still think

ok , i went to check the car out, and what i found in it was the following
" the hood has paint problems, which needs a paint job,
the driver seat has like a broken rod or something so the seat cant go back like to adjust length, but the back can move, i think i need to get it from the junkyard or something,
it has a cel but its from an oxygen sensor because he put on a y-pipe , and finally when the car like steers i hear like a click whenever i turn the wheel while driving, he changed to kyb struts to lower the car and has 3 adjustable and 1 non adjustable, you think that its an easy thing to fix?
well its for 600 and the back and sides, seats, interior is perfect "

what do you think i should do? the guy is like chinese and in his 30s, very nice guy

why didn't they post pics of the interior?
Some people need a sensor here and there, call the stealisrship and get freak out. or just lose interest, If you know you're 4th gen you know what you're getting into, and even better if you get down with the wrenches . But as for me i would get it. the worst that can happen part it out
i got dibs on the y pipe

dont be fooled by the niceness of a person, people will be on best behavior when selling any type of property. The clicking while turning is the axles. You probabyly have to change both axles since the car is dropped. maybe even tie rods or other suspension related things Looks like to me the car would be a beater or great for parts. If you are going to go long trips with this car, many problems will creep up fast. My advice to you is if:

You need a beater-get it
you wanna part out and make money-get it
if you want a nice reliable car-pass this one and save a lil more for a better one.

good luck in what you decide

maxima's are great cars, but your gonna need to do a thourough inspection of it, bring a friend whos WELL educated with cars Nissans if you can manage.. You might want to learn the procedure on diagnosing the CEL or bring it to autozone. If this guy knows what hes talking about when hes talking to you he might be a snake. dont fall for a salesman, if hes honest thats one thing but too honest and too savvy thats asking for problems.

do some quick things when you look at it and drive it. check the oil (i bet itll be freshly changed.......) listen for pinging or knocking, check that CEL out, listen for vaccuum leaks, and check for visable leaks under the car. check the tranny fluid as well if its auto.

word...
thats all some good ideas, but i did check the oil, and he showed me a paper of regular maintaintce. no ping or knock. well he actually is like an easy guy, doesnt know much about the maxima, he just put on some easy bolt ons to make him look cool, like those ricey tail lights in the back. but well when he was talking he was like im really unsure but it may probably be an o2 sensor a friend told me... then he even said bring a mechanic next time and check everything yourself. he said that hes selling it for supposidly a 1000 although we down to 650 because hes moving with his GF which has a civic, and because it needs some time in it like to fix all the minor stuff, which he doesnt have. so yea idk i really wanna buy it after i drove it now i just love it lol
