Tranny swap....

Will a transmission from an 01 directly bolt up on my 97. Or will major modifications need to be done?
My autotragic is on the fritz...and I can get a low mileage tranny from an 01 i30 for dirt cheap...

It fits - if you can get a VLSD auto tranny from an I30t Infiniti, you will need the driver's side axle with it. However, the wiring from the old transmission will have to be cut and spliced onto either of the 01 transmissions - the connector and the cable are different. This will require someone who can read both FSMs and make the splice. The shift cable also will require a modified bracket to hold it onto the tranny. The bell housing and torque converter work just fine.

I've done this twice.

Would be easier to just swap the solenoid pack/VB or get the updated solenoid pack per the TSB, IMO.

I put an '01 in mine a while back, shift cable attached just fine as it was, and I just swapped in my VB and solenoids to make it a plug and play affair.
