I already have a Cattman y-pipe, RT Cat and a Stillen Muffler.

Would adding a Courtesy b-pipe reduce backpressure too much? I thought I read somewhere that backpressure would take too much of a hit with this setup ( but again, if I recall it was on a SC'ed Max, unlike mine ).

Thanks!

From what I have read, your "backpressure hit" may have a *small* negative impact on your low-end power, but at the same time, it will give you a SIGNIFICANT power increase at the high end.

That's kinda what I thought....Like I said, I _think_ the guys that I heard this from had a SC and maybe even NOS running. Don't remember where the page was though. I'll see if I can dig it up.

Thanks!

Backpressure

I have the exact setup and since the installation of my b-pipe at quick throttle the car starts to choke. At first we thought it was the clutch everthing checked out fine, we replaced the TPS, and the O2 sensors, still the same problem. Finally we put the factory B-Pipe on runs like a dream.

What would be better?
leaving the stock muffler, the stock b-pipe, or changing the muffler for the 2k muffler? That is with the ypipe and the rt high flow cat.

Leave the stock B-Pipe

Although the aftermarket B-Pipes are of stainless steel and better quality gains are very minimal. I would leave the Stock B-Pipe and get yourself a nice free flowing muffler like the Apex-i dunk muffler. It looks nice, sounds sweet and it's amazing quality. If you get a chance take a look at one, and pay close attention to the welding it's so perfect.

Ya, I have an Apex Dunk too...it's REALLY quiet on my car, cept a slight drone at 2-3K rpm, how about yours?

Yeah but the muffler is not going to give that much extra hp either. Basically you get it for the sound and looks.

Why would you be "screwed?"
The greddy cat back replaces both the factory b-pipe and
the muffler.

I thought ppl were saying a non-factory b-pipe is bad? Loss of power at quick throttle up above.

B-pipe gains as per stillen are minimal. I found the B-pipe to be an extra headache for just 2-3hp. Also if you get a b-pipe get yourself a resonator. The Apex exhaust is really loud with just the B-pipe and no resonator. Cattman offers one with the resonator. I added a resonator today it sounds ok except like you said the droning. Also remember that the after market B-pipe is bigger than the stock. Mine hits all over the place. Now I have to bring it back and get the heat shields pushed up by the last bend.

Good luck let me know how it goes.

So what is the "ideal" set up for exhaust?

Ideal Updates!!!

What was recommended to me and completed was the following.

HKS hyperflow intake
Stillen Y-Pipe
Car Sound hyperflow CAT
Custom Stainless resonator
Apex-i Muffler

The performance shop told me that the B-Pipe is optional and is not worth spending $200 for 2Hp.

Most of the gains are from the High Flow Filter, CAT and Y-pipe. The Y-pipe itself can give you up to 25hp.

Is the car sound cat any better than the RT cat?
