Replace input shaft bearing

Car: 99 maxima

my input bearing took a ****. Wondering if anyone can offer any insight as to how much of a pain in the **** that would be to replace. I can yank the tranny out without much difficulty, but once it's out, do I need to open the case (I assume I do). Once it's open, what is involved with replacing that bearing?

I really want to avoid buying a tranny for it, as it's just not worth the money...

Also, any suggestions as to where to get the part?

Thanks...

there is a bunch of information on how to rebuild a 5 speed transmission if you search or look in the stickies.

changing the IPS bearings is part of this and pretty much entails all of the same steps short of changing the other bearings (but you might as well). Rebuild kits are like 200~ and it's worth your time considering how much you'll pay for ONE bearing and other miscellaneous ****.
