knock knock?? fail?

ok new sound from my car today. when going around left hand turns semi hard i hear a knocking sound. it only does it when turning left not right at all. to explain the sound it sorta sounds like the spolks of my rim are hitting my brake caliper. my guess is either a wheel bearing or a cv axle going bad. i also get a "bird chriping" sound from the right front once and a while that kinda sounds like a wheel bearing but not sure what it is it only happens once and a while. it will chirp for say 30 mins in a row of driving then it will e gone for a while then come back when it feels like it.

Sup shift...

I was reading Epacy's thread and others were pointing to the Hub as well as the Cv or wheel bearing. The problem is that the Hub may be expensive. If u got the cash then change the whole assmebly. F it.

Hey does the sound come from just turnin the steering wheel in park or at all stop?

Check your sway arm links.....my car did the same thing....ever since changing them, the sound went away... cost to fix, around $50 for both sway arm links if you are planning to repair yourself.

Not always. The noise was intermitent from both sides on mine, but that doesn't mean your sway arm links wore the same as mine.

Always use the KISS method. If you know these are bad, change them....you will notice the noise disappearing right away if this is the only thing you need to be concerned with.

Oh yeah, if you don't change these....you may actually ruin cv joints, over prolonged time IIRC.

Start with the sway arm links and update us on the noise then.

what??? 50.00 a side, are you crazy??!!?! i paid like 30.00 for both sides at http://www.rockauto.com/ or http://www.courtesyparts.com/ sounds more to me like a strut tower mount cause i had that left turn only noise and it was a strut mount.

a knock or a click? usually if it's the cv joint it's a light clicking sound, unless you've been driving on a bad joint for quite a while then you might hear a louder click/knock.

If it is a clunking and squeaking at random times.....sway arm links.
If it is a pattern clicking or knocking.....CV joint.
