Has anyone tried Blacklight bulbs for......?

I was looking at some LEDs for converting my gauge cluster lights.

I found black light bulbs for the dash lights for my 98 (size 74s).

Has anyone ever attempted it or am I just ?

I would think with the white faces, it might create a cool effect. Would it create a gauge glow?

Just thinking outside the box.

if you do it, i want pics. seems like a cool idea. you could remove your cluster and paint the faces with a black light clear coat. IMHO it would look hot

wow i made a post about this like a few weeks ago and nobody really had anything to say about it.

i kno when you look at black lights it messes up ur vision.. so wouldnt it be bad to have something that could affect your vision right in front of you while you're driving?

Suppose you are right about the vison thing, but if you set it up in a way you can switch from white to black light, it could be a cool effect for a while and then change back.

I'll just have to give it a whirl then.

I am going to keep my needles orange, just don't feel like taking the film off and orange should glow as well.

I did the same thing Meanbean did years ago and used a a blacklight tube in front of the gauges. White face gauges light up good, and with red bulbs lighting up the numbers and needles it looks hot.

Now, blacklight bulbs lighting up the cluster sounds cool too.

The only reason why I thought this would work is because I thought it would look like the gauge cluster in a 2005 VW Passat. I want to try getting the same type of blue effect with the red needle. Only cooler with the gauge glowing too....

Here is what someone did to their Saturn.....I think the Max Gauges would Look better...

Hey, just a heads up, you might not be able to get very even lighting with 'plug and play' LEDs... I tried it, and the lighting was horrible. I have a 5.5th gen, but it's the same basic idea. Maaaybe with wide angle ones you'd get more even lighting, but the ones I got were tri-led wide angle ones and it was horrible. And, I don't know if the 4th gens have a bluish filter behind the gauges like mine does, but that would inhibit any colored (blacklight) LEDs from doing their job. You just might want to look into that before you do it? I just had a bad, money-wasting experience with plug 'n plays... This week I'll be attempting a full LED gauge conversion (not plug n plays) and if it works out, doing a write up on it. Anyway, just wanted to give my 2 cents and share my experience with plug 'n play LEDs. I even used white, and they weren't near even/bright enough. If you want LEDs, you might need to do a real conversion. (take apart the cluster, wire LEDs and resistors, etc etc... it'd be a lot harder and riskier though...)

Thanks for the heads up on this project. What LEDs? I might do some more research before I jump into this....I really do appreciate the two cents though.....thanks

-Yeah, no problem I just ordered 200 white LEDs and resistors a week ago, so they should be here soon. I'm planning on doing white gauges with blue needles... In my head, it amazing!! hahaha, just watch for the thread I'm gonna start as soon as the LEDs get here and I do the conversion (assuming it goes well). That will (again, assuming success) give you more insight on the matter of LED gauge lighting.

In the link to the pics of the Saturn gauges it looks like he has hidden a couple blacklight LEDs to point at the gauges, not illuminating from behind the cluster.
Same thing with the SVX.

Do you think that if the lights are behind the gauges, they might still glow through the numbers.....mainly highlighting the numbers themselves instead of making the faces glow?

I might have to put the light project on hold....need to put on a cat-back exhaust sytem on first....stock system has a crack in front of the resonator and it is driving me nuts... Thinking about a Megan Cat-Back....need something cheap and fast to install.

Yeah!!!! Do you know where to get a bosal B Pipe? I have been searching for other catbacks because I see a lot of orgers are saying not to go with the Megan.

Will the b-pipe be a direct bolt-on to a stock muffler?

Sorry I am getting off my OP topic, but I think it is a little more important not to have my car's exhaust blaring loud running through town when I just tap on the gas....

has anyone put this exhaust system on?
