How many miles till ECU resets?
So I changed my Front O2 sensor last week (I have 330 miles on it) and changed my Knock Sensor yesterday (about 15 miles). I went to get the car inspected this morning and was told that the ECU hasnt fully reset. Some sensors still show "Not Ready" at the inspection. I reset the ECU after the O2 change, but not after Knock Sensor change yesterday thinking that it would reset itself after a certain amount of miles. I have till Thursday to get car inspected again. Not sure if resetting the ECU again is the right thing to do now as I dont have much time.
I was advised it takes about 50 miles for the ECU to be fully set so the inspection station can read it. Well, I'm past that point.

ahhh nice. Did a search on that. Thanks.

Its been about a week. I should have had a good 30 or so starts in. They said they were able to read some but not all. I'll do a drive cycle today and see what happens.

you prolly jus need to drive it for awhile. I have hrd sometimes u need to go thru a tank of gas or so for the ECU to learn all the car parameters. New sensors are more sensitve and will require time to balance with the older components/emissions

You can't just reset the ECU and expect to pass even if your CEL is off. See: What are readiness monitors: http://www.epa.state.il.us/air/vim/faq/obd.html
I think the OP understands that, but others do not. I could not locate clear/understandable instructions in the FSM of the drive cycle required to achieve readiness but I would expect that information to be in the FSM.
IIRC it's not just number of miles, it's how the car is driven. I think a typical drive around town and on the highway should do it.

It's two different issues
1) reseting of trouble codes (CEL)
2) Having the readiness monitors show ready
You can clear the trouble codes but until a proper drive cycle(s) is completed the readiness monitors will not show ready and you will not pass inspection. That's why you have to drive the car after CEL is fixed.
Here are Ford and GM drive cycles since 4th gen Maxima's are also OBD2 it should be similar. http://www.obdii.com/

This is a known issue with 96 and 97 Maximas. I'm in the same situation where I can't get my ECU to get into the "ready" state for testing. After a bit of searching, I found the TSB regarding the problem and the detailed driving pattern required to get all five systems ready for testing. Go to Nissanhelp.com and sign up for a free account. Then go here and download TSB NTB98-018c. I just downloaded it and I'm waiting to get down to half a tank of gas (because part of the process is filling up with exactly 4 gallons of gas). This is not an easy task to do and I don't have a CONSULT diagnostic tool so I can't get the instant engine load readings that are required during the drive. Good luck to anybody that tries. I will post my results after I've tried it.
