99 to 95 ECM swap a Success! +1 Later NATS :)
Mostly following Whlimi's great write up.....
http://forums.maxima.org/4th-generat...p-success.html
I still need to come up with an EGR solution. I do have a '95-'98 EGR setup (thanks Mdeezy!) just need to figure out the wiring.
Thanks Whlimi for answering the stupid questions I asked via PM!
Thanks Nealoc187 for the ECU!!!
And to pmohr of course!
Thanks again!!

Thanks though!

Congrats man! Welcome to the club
I've been pretty lazy with respect to fixing my EGR problem although it seems like a fairly easy task. I could be wrong though
From the image above, Green goes to airbox post MAF. Pink goes to vacuum source and Blue goes to EGR valve. Pay close attention to the nipples on the egr valve that the hoses are attached to as the EGR function wont work correctly unless the hoses are connected to their respected nipples.
As for the wiring, you will need a pig tail from a 95-98 engine harness for the egr valve. Connect terminal 2 to ignition source, and terminal 1 should be pinned on the ECM at location 103.

Any idea if the '95 valve itself is a "direct bolt-on"?

That's just it, the '99 has 4 pins for the EGR solenoid, '95 has one. To prove my point, I did exacted as you state and do have a code. The car drives fine, I just need to get rid of the code to pass yearly state emissions....

Also if you can just check the resistance between terminal 1 and 2 on the EGR valve....I wonder if you could use a resistor to fool the ECM....

This is my plan of attack now (might be plan b if the resistor doesn't work) I took the pin from the '99 fuel pump relay and spliced it to the EVAP canister control valve wire and put it in ECU pin 103. FSM states that it is wired the same as the '95 solenoid is. Now I need to verify the voltage. If all goes as planned I think it will be replace with the '95 solenoid and I can use the harness and swap out the plugs.
Make sense?

I PM http://forums.maxima.org/4th-generat...relay-fix.html dude and he said the resistor wasn't reliable and still throw codes.... I'm not to sure why it wouldn't work if the connections are good. I may give it a shot.

Whlimi,
When you get a second can you look at the rear O2 wiring for '95 and '99? I switched pin 107 to 105 and still get a code. I'm thinking it's a grounding issue. The '99 O2 sensor is a four wire and is grounded by the fourth wire ('95 is three wire). The '95 O2 circuit is ground by pin 112 on the ECU.
You think I should ground pin 112 and see if it will work? I will need to disconnect the ground on the '99 O2 then, right?
If this doesn't work then I'll get a '95 O2 sensor...
Also, I'm getting a P1320 code, didn't have it on the '99 ECU so I'm going to double check the CKPS REF pins. Any other ideas? Because, I'm 99% sure the pins are correct.
Again THANKS MAN!!!

I'm actually running an O2 sim in the rear and havent had a code. You can try and ground pin 112 to any other ground wire in the harness that is grounded through the intake manifold bolts. If this gets rid of your code, I'll update the writeup.

Yeap, P0136... I'll give the ground a shot and let you know.
