Does anyone miss their stock Max?

I was looking through pics on my computer today, and I saw one of my max when I first bought it. It had 41k miles, super clean interior, and even cleaner exterior. No window tint, and a factory tape deck. I remember driving it to Missouri the day before I bought it (told the dealer I wanted to take it for the weekend, hehe). I wasn't even planning on buying it, I just wanted to drive something different on a road trip then my '99 Monte POS. After I got back, I fell in love with the soft, yet sporty ride, the way the interior smelled, and the way the pearl paint glistened at night under flourescent lighting at the gas station. The way everything looked so elegant inside. Now, my ride is a lot stiffer, but a LOT more sportier, the pearl paint looks a little different. The interior doesn't smell so new, and it rattles like a bastard! Not to mention all the noise from the intake! I even miss the factory clutch feel...sigh...oh well, I guess I could just buy another Max, but I'd prolly start modding that one too!! hehe
Yeah I kinda miss the nice quiet ride. Ever since installing the cattman Y and stillen exhaust, its loud as heck! Some day I like it, mosty days I dont. Still debating if I should install my apex springs and KYB shocks......
Stock Max Comparo
How does your Clutchmaster Stage III carbon/kevlar clutch kit feel like compared to stock? I know my stock clutch is about to go and I'd like to get a stronger one, but also not to sacrifice the easy feel that the original clutch has. I got a friend who has this miata that was built for the track, He can do 90 degree corners like its nothing, but, he's goes over a pebble and you feel like BAM! He's got this really powerful clutch that can grab the engine at redline and shove all the engine's torque to the wheels, but the clutch is so damn heavy that one calf muscle gets twice as big as the other;-) I like performance mods, but not so much to sacrtifice comfort.

Stock Maxima!
I am glad that someone brought that one up. I just bought my max and it is all stock. I have had it for a week and already ordered a dash kit and clear corners. I don't think that I am going to get springs or try to sacrifice the ride in any way. Maybe an intake but how loud is it. As far as the exhaust goes...I am going to keep my stock muffler on it and mod the pipes from that. My point is, that I want to keep the nice luxury end of it but I have to make it unique.
I have to tell you. I'm fortunate to have two of these machines.
My wife's car is stock. Mine is modded. Wheels, tires, FSTB, RSB, Sawy bar, etc. Plus it's a five speed vs. her is auto.
Everytime I get in her car I am amazed at just how much of a Luxury car it is. Smooth ride, quiet, stable ,fun to drive.
But then I drive my 5 speed with mods. MY GOD WHAT A MACHINE! It amazes me how much more I enjoy driving it without sacrificing much of the ride comforts she has. And she actually prefers to ride in my car. I 've considered modding hers but I like the comparo so I'll keep hers stock.

I know what you're going through...
Ever since I've started modding my '98 SE a couple of months ago (Konis Sports with Eibach springs, V2 Vortech S/C) I miss the luxury ride now. My exhaust system rattles against the heat shield ever since I've replaced the little "S" pipe just before the resonator and my front struts seemed to have loosened because I heard a clunking sound over minor bumps but not on larger ones. I'm thinking of putting back my stock springs and going back to (ugh!) the 4x4 look...However I still have the kick A** engine to play with!
Old tuners say...
No. With the exception of the Tokico blues, I have thoroughly enjoyed every mod. I'm waiting for the adjustable KYB's to come out, then I can adjust the ride the way I like it, instead of shooting craps. I had to choose between a modded 4th gen, and a new 5th gen with few or no mods. No regrets. I have a unique, personalized car built to my preferences, for much less than new, and have had more fun researching and doing the mods. I think too that my car is equal to or better than an unmodded 2k in performance, and I also like the 4th gen stylin better. Just couldn't get used to the rear styling on the 2K. unsolicited advice to those considering mods... Seek advice from those with the same priorities you have, or you're comparing apples to oranges. As carpenters say, measure twice, cut once. Tuners say, research twice, buy once.
man, I was thinking about this the other day.
18s are harsh and makes my car vibrate.
ride is stiff, and everything rattles like crap. I sometimes wish the car is stock...but then when you pull up next to a stock max.....it all becomes worth it all over again.
the only car I would probably ever leave stock would be the Ferrari 360 Modena! That thing rocks!
