Idler Pulley Help

hey guys i recently changed my alternator and my pulley fell off while driving my fault b/c i didnt tighten nut on pulley...i got new nuts and cant figure out how to put it back on...which direction does the pulley go on? and i dont have that 1/4 inch spacer either in between bracket and pulley another thread was talking about...when i tried fixing car turned on and belt got very very hot and pulley too and smoke came out burn the belt...

You mean the tensioner pulley?

If you don't install it correctly it will lock up and burn up the belt, as you've seen. This is one I've actually been meaning to do a video on.

If you don't have all the parts, then get them. Do you really expect it to operate correctly without all of the parts?

Yea thats what it did...I tried finding the 1/4 inch spacer and pep boys, home depot, or another auto store i went to didnt have one...do u know the exact size of it b/c the bolt that holds the pulley and that spacer gets thicker...?

The spacer is 10.2mm thick, the outer diameter is 22mm, and the inner diameter is 12.2mm.

Take a look at this page, and find the part you're looking for. Their are two washers that are referred to as "spacers," and the thicker part that I gave you the dimensions for, which is referred to as a "collar."

When I ordered the entire pulley assembly from Courtesy, it included only one of the two spacers shown in the diagram. I can't remember which one it was. It did include the collar.

The idler pulley parts diagram is in a hard-to-find place - it's in the Body Electrical category, in the "275 Compressor Mounting and Fitting" section.
