Who is interested in a new LSD for autos?
As you guys know, there are currently no limited slip differentials for autos. Yes, you can get the I30T one or the Canadian Maxima one, but I mean aftermarket. I'm wondering who here is interested in an aftermarket LSD for automatic maximas? I'm currently about to produce one. The shop I am working with has supplied LSD's to a lot of companies/individuals now and produce a very nice product. It's a clutch type LSD, and this particular brand has been proven in road racing for some time now. I will start the prototyping very soon, and I just thought I would let you know. My car will be the prototype car, so I'll know how well it works. Once prototyping begins, the limited slip differential will be done in 4 weeks, but it wouldn't be ready for sale for probably a month after that so we can adequately test it's reliability. Reliability hasn't been an issue on the other applications, but each new one still must be properly tested.
This post is just to get an idea of whether or not there is enough interest in this to put the limited slip into production. I'm prototyping it regardless, but I'm still seeing if I should start producing and selling them. Email me at sales@ap-signworks.com if interested.

Hopefully they will be since this is going to cost me money to get done. It would be nice to recoup some of my investment.
On a related topic, I will also be prototyping high performance axles for the Maxima very soon. These will be cryogenically treated units with totally upgraded hardware, etc. Not going to break one of these. Not sure if there is a market for this since most Maxima drivers aren't avid drag racers and so don't break axles too much. But we'll see.

I'm not sure how big a market this would be, but I'm sure there are a few out there who could benefit from these products. I'm a big fan of over-engineering...

Think of this, have you ever gone around a corner in the wet and floored it and spun the inside wheel? well a lsd will make the car pull around by transmiting more power to the wheel with more traction.
I think thats the jist of it. If im wrong, please correct me.

How about an affordable S/C kit? Can they built it?
Vortech itself costs around $1000 and mounting hardware can not cost more than $500 including oil lines and fuel reg. Stillen charges almost $4000, I'm sure a lot of people would buy if there was a $2500 S/C kit.

If you can find a way to get rid of the rear beam and have independent rear susp. that would be great

Price range is somewhere in the $8-900 range. Yes, it's a lot, but not for what it is. Final pricing is not set yet. Just have to make sure there are no complications that would affect the price (extra parts, etc.).
And yes, new driveshafts are actually going to be prototyped at the same time.
I will keep everyone updated on this as new developments occur.

It's Quaife, and no, they don't have it for autos. They only make it for the 5 spds. The autos have different differential housings, so the Quaife's don't work for them.

LSD is different than a VB upgrade, VB firms up shifts and makes them a little faster, the LSD was explained pretty well earlier. Kind of think about it like the Subaru commercials that used to be on, it transfers power from the wheel that slip, to the wheel with grip. A 4WD Sub would likely use a center diff (not front) to transfer power from front to back, not side to side. The quiafe sells for around a grand.... Just my thoughts
