Looking for the quietest exhaust possible

Since the White Shadow has been relegated to "beater" status, I don't drive it much anymore, my wife does. She absolutely hates the Cattman cat back that's on it now and nags me every day to put something quieter on it. Of course I got rid of my OEM exhaust years ago because it was taking up too much garage space so I need to find a system to buy that is really quiet, OEM like, and cheap. Performance isn't an issue. Any suggestions?

I think Bosal b-pipes are pretty cheap OEM replacements.

Go Bosal or go OEM from a junk car. You will get what you want.

Why not get a bigger resonator (glasspack) to replace the one on your cattman? Just a thought...

but other than that +1 on getting an OEM replacement, or just have a mufler shop crush bend you new exhaust...

Whatever you do dont put a maganflow resonator on there...

My magna flow 22" 2.5" res made my OEM 5th gen muffler nasty.

Yes, I'm in Baytown. What do you have OEM or aftermarket? Good condition? I'd prefer local so let me know.

OEM Cat back wise, and well it's a Texas car and I haven't spotted any obvious leaks, PM sent.

go to a salvage yard and find a maxima whose's exhaust isn't rusted out, then add an exhaust tip for a little flare.

White Shadow, what did you end up doing? I am looking for a full exhaust (manifolds back) for my DD. Unfortunately, my y-pipe is leaking also and all I'm reading is the aftermarket pipe make the car LOUD....

is there an affordable replacement y-pipe that is resonated and quiet????!? anyone?

If you gotta replace the y-pipe u shd go upgrade to an aftermarket one. Ebay got em for 100 bucks or so. Check out Kevlo911 FAQ stickie. He has sound clips of differnet exhaust setups.

I actually was able to find an OEM exhaust at a salvage yard that wasn't rusted out (at the 3rd one I went to). So I got an OEM muffler off of a '98 I30. Thanks for the offers and replies.

My Cattman is already spoken for.

best i've found so far is: RockAuto - Bosal VFM (value for money) catback exhaust $159.32 shipped to the door, $129.22 shipped for the direct fit cat, but the y-pipe is salty....WSP has the best price so far for that, that i've found.

the weather is going to warm up here, so I may check a salvage yard or two.

Well I ended up paying $35 for the salvage yard OEM off of the I30 with no rust. Had to go through about 6 mufflers before finding one that wasn't rusted out but it was worth it.
