Alternator Amperage

I have to replace the alternator in my 96 GLE. I replaced it once long ago, and now the bearing is going. This is a non California car.
Does anyone know what the stock amperage is supposed to be?

Also the RockAuto site shows two different mounts for the alternator, does anyone know what the mount looks like?

Thanks,

Phil

I too am in the market for an alternator as mine died. I gather that the stock amps is 110 amps. I checked out RockAuto and the alternator is $149.99 and up. For $10 more, you can get one at Autozone or Advance Auto and get lifetime replacement warranty on the alternator.

Have an Autozone Alternator

I have an Autozone alternator that had to be special ordered after two off the shelf failed to pass an Alternator test. So I have the warranty on this one, but it isn't so great having a warranty when you get replacements that aren't rebuilt well. I guess I will pick up an Autozone one so I can get my money back, but I will have them test it at the store to make sure it passes an output test.

Not sure what you mean. I looked on the Rockauto site and did not see that.
Anyway, all 4th Gen Max alternators mount exactly the same way. Only the output ratings should differ. The mounting - no difference.

mounting should be the same...but there is a stock output of 110 amp and a high performance at 130 or 140 amps. Dont remember what the amperage was...

I'm pretty sure you get the high output alternators with vehicles that have the cold weather package.. Heated seats, heated mirrors ect..
