tranny rebuild?
tranny rebuild?
anyone have to rebuild their tranny??? mines recently locked me out of 1st and 2nd gear w/o any kind of FREAKIN WARNING! lol and i was wondering the difficulty level of rebuilding one and what tools and crap would be necessary in rebuild?
Either transmission would be pretty difficult, automatic even being more so. There are lots of specialty tools you need for disassembling and putting everything back together correctly.
To get an idea of the needed tools, check out the FSM for either the manual or automatic transmission, it will tell you what you need. But be warned, there are lots of obscure and expensive tools you need. Plus you'll need a lot of time and a big workspace to spread everything out.
Honestly, when it comes to transmissions, if you don't have experience rebuilding one, save yourself a lot of headaches and just have a shop do it for you. It will be money well spent.

Personally I wouldn't have it rebuilt. It's definitely not worth the money that your gonna have to spend.
If I were you, I would just find the lowest mileage Max at a junkyard with the same tranny as you and have a shop drop it in.
