oxygen sensor

oxygen sensor

ok guys i need some help yesterday i was driving my check engine light came on so today i did the ecu code check and it came out to be 0707 it says that 0707 is downstream oxygen sensor or circuit fault how do i know what it is and witch sensor is it plz help me

I'm guessing that must be the one in the cat. The two on the motor side are usually listed bank1/bank 2.

obdII code P0707 is a transmission code

Im pretty sure he is referring to the code produced by the blinking CEL.

Yeah, that should be the o2 sensor located inside the cat (underneath the car) not underneath the hood actually. Just look about halfway down the exhaust system underneath the car right after the cat.

I have the same code...I was told in the past that the downstream oxygen sensor does not have any effect on performance..is this true???

All the downstream O2 sensor does is measure how good the CAT is working.

While installing all new exhaust last Novemeber I broke that aftermarket 02 sensor in the intermediate pipe after the CAT. I replaced it with a Bosch O2 sesnor I got for $50 total at www.rockauto.com.

When replacing the main 02 censors the ones the do affect performance, you cant go wrong with Denso units. 50 bucks a piece shipped at rockauto.com

You must have a cal max. I believe the bank1 sensors are before the cat. The cal model max has more sensors. You will need to check the manual. I just replaced my pre-cat sensors. I have a fed-spec max and there are only 2 sensors before the cat.

^^ ah.. I checked my relatives maxima with a friends scanner and i think the code was for bank 1 sensor two but i forget.. im not sure!

I picked up one of those bluetooth scanners and it dont work for 4th gens .. Im kinda bothered by it. I thought OBD-II was a standard!

Anyway Ive gotta get another scanner. Im tired of doing it the manual way and counting blinks! When i do Ill see if its banks 1 sensor 2!!

I pulled codes p0130 and p0150,

130 said sensor 1 bank 1, thats the one at the firewall next to cylinder 1, I know this. BUT...

150 said sensor 1 bank 2.... according to the other responses in this thread, bank 2 is after cat?

Thats your other upstream sensor. So both upper sensors are throwing the code or one may be bad and throwing a ghost code for the other.

There was another thread talking about PS fluid leaking down to that O2sensor and wreaking havoc on it. I think that might be a similar issue with mine. If its the other up stream sensor, thats the one near the radiator right?, then that one should be fine as it has been replaced before. I am HOPING it's a ghost code situation for that one. But I have a feeling at least one of mine are jacked up.

I have read that some O2 sensors require some soldering. Will the Denso units fit right in without modification? I have a 95 Maxima

Yes, I bought the direct fit densos for $50 at rockauto. They plug right in and work perfect.

Thanks. I just went on their website and they have the Densos for $48 and the ultrapowers for $31 they both have the same picture and part number. # 2343098 Are these the right ones?

PO135 & PO155

My codes are PO135 & PO155. Will the same Rock Auto Denso work for both? I'm thinking 135 is upstream and 155 downstream... is that correct? Is there a third O2 sensor, or if I find two will they have to be the right ones?

Reading the CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DIAGNOSIS sticky would of answered that for you. It's the second thread in the 4th GEN forum:

Both of those codes are labelling the right bank O2 sensor as defective. It's an upstream sensor mounted in the y-pipe. Read the second diagram for FED and CAN maximas:

It's the part lebelled 22690 (FR, RH)

And yes you can replace that upstream sensor with the Rock Auto DENSO.

hey all i got a ton of codes when my muffler went bad. oxygen sensor codes, knock sensor and cylinder 3 misfire. the code it hesitating but really hesitating over 3 grand. the coil pack was replaced not to long ago. im hoping i dont have a misfire on cylinder 3 could a bad exhaust and o2 sensor throw this code?

Muffler was a coincidence.

1. Which O2 sensor did you get the code for? There is a current thread regarding cleaning O2 sensors, try it. If you need a new one go to Rockauto.com for the Denso direct fit. DO THIS FIRST.

2. If you got cylinder 3 misfire code, you need to trouble shoot it. These codes don't pop up for no reason. Do a search, its been discussed twice this week. DO THIS AFTER O2 SENSOR.

3. Knock sensor (KS) is probably bogus ghost code caused by the O2 code. If the KS IS bad, it will cause loss of power and low MPG. It WILL NOT cause misfires or poor running (will still run smooth). DO THIS LAST.

I would suggest starting your own thread for the best help you can get. Just SEARCH and do these things first. When asking for help in regards to codes, post the actual codes ie: obdII poxxx or nissan code xxxx.

I agree with everything in your post except this, my failing knock sensor caused a misfire, or a stutter when I went to WOT.

Again, this is only in my case, I'm starting to gather my car seems to be out the norm now a days anyways.....

A dead KS results in retarded timing only. It cant cause a misfire because there is no way for it to. The misfire and bad KS were a coincidence. I suppose retarded timing might cause a stutter at high rpm like a rev limiter, but it sounds far fetched.

If it helps anyone, I replaced a fuel filter and the code for a bad o2 sensor went away. It's probably near end of life and the clogged fuel filter kicked it over the edge, but I'm glad I did the fuel filter first.
