i need to beat a lex IS300

i don't know if any of you remember but i'm the guy who has a friend with a IS300. we always race, but now he finally knows how to drive it. so now he's wuppin me up and down the block. we don't race at really high speeds, mostly drag off the line at a light or somethin. so, i need low end power. i heard a UDP gives you better revs, but i have an automatic, and everyone either says not to get it or there are other mods better for the money. i plan on getting it eventually, but yea, after i do better things with my money. another idea that i am seriously considering is selling the auto for a stick. i miss stick soooo so much, and the fact that it takes off almost a second of your 1/4 mile time seems VERY tempting, to say the least. but that would be a huge hassle since i'm still paying off the one i have now. plus i haven't found the right deal for a stick. any suggestions would be awesome. thanks in advance.

the difference in horsepower is only 25. 190hp vs 215hp. he has stock 17"s, i have momo 16"s. his torque is 218@3800, i'm not sure what the max has. again, thanks in advance

What other mods you have right now if any? If nothing then get your Y pipe first and maybe follow it up with a pulley later. the pipe will give you a nice 10 -20 HP

so let me get this straight, more torque at lower rpm's is better, right? since you reach max torque sooner?

Re: i need to beat a lex IS300

If you want low end power then keep your stock air box (since you have an automagic) and get a drop in filter charger. Also get a Y-pipe, you have several to chose from, I have a cattman, but I'm sure other brands are also good. I think these are the most basic and inexpensive mods that you can do and I'm sure that with this you will be able to take him!

Good luck!

actually, i bought the rims from sweetsound2001 (aka anton) and he weighed them out to be 14.9 pounds. they are momo corse giarroso, he said they were some crazy type of forged metal, that's why they weigh 14.9 punds. i would have kept the stock 15"s, since smaller wheels are better for drag, right? but since the momo's were pretty light, i went for them. they loko a heeeeell a lot better too. yea i'm thinkin of gettin a warpspeed ypipe, i think it was sudz who said that it wasn't TOO loud. i don't mind the loudness but i'm plannin on getting an intake system so i know that will make up for the noise. i was thinkin about slashin his tires and putting salt and sugar in his gas tank before the race though, i figured that would help out some......

Ok, everytime I hear MOMO I think of the Arrows or one of their other heavy cast wheels. As for the Y-pipe, it won't be louder unless you have an aftermarket exhaust. I didn't notice any difference in sound after I installed mine.
Once you get a Y-pipe you'll notice the difference and why everyone recommends them.

get a CAI and a Ypipe. that will give you low end and 10-20hp on the ypipe.

the is300 is quick if the person knows how to drive it esp. if it's a manual.

i've tried to take on a few is300s but no one bites. maybe those guys know something i dun.

good luck.
