Suspension Shot.. Need Advice (noob alert)

Hello fellow Maximas,

Let me start out like this; I am a total noob when it comes to suspensions. Really, I've never done ANY work on them (although my work on cars is limited), and I am not familiar with the terminology either. So here are my questions...

I have a 96 Max. How is the OEM suspension set up? It's GXE trim if that helps. If someone can explain the difference between spring/struts and coil overs I am sure I can figure it out myself (again, noob here)

Secondly, my suspension is shot. I am at 240k and I need to replace it.. Advice? I have searched the forums but in all honestly, I need some links if anyone can provide them to the exact product I would need to buy to replace the products (if anyone has the time/heart to find such a link). I was thinking spring/strut because I enjoy the control and stiff handling. But again, I really could use a link to the product and how many of each I would need to buy. I hate to be a nuisance, but at this point I am about to tear my hair out and I do not want to order something I cannot use.

I already found a few write ups on how to replace the suspension and it seems straight forward. If anyone could help me with the former and latter I would be greatly appreciated.

TLDR: How is the suspension on the Maxima setup? (Written out or a link to one) And if I wanted to replace it, what EXACTLY would I need to buy? I am just looking for easy mode on this one.

to replace the suspension u need
struts ( kyb agx or kyb gr2, tokicko illuminas. konis. these r gd brands)
strut mounts. font and back..(kyb.. oem. the rears are link bushings)
springs ( eibach, h&r, maxspeed, megan racing some brands)
dust boots(oem) or bumpstops
if u want to adjust ur alignment a lil better camber kit.. (eibach)
basically u need 4 of everything. make sure their specified as front and rear.
springs and strut setups are good in every aspect but some people like to go real low in their drops so they go with coilovers.. which are good to. i heard they tend to be on da stiffer side. but its ur call.

wen i get a chance to search for some links i would help out if i can.. hope this helps a lil

That's good information, thank you. When looking for the struts, springs, etc, do I need to look for ones specific to my model/make, or will any work?

These are suggestions if u want to lower the car right?

He is a Noob, he may jus want to replace with stock.

OP,

U shd jus take it to a mech and let him tell u what u shd replace. U say suspension but there are so many components for the suspension that in order to really help we have to kno exactly what is broken. OR jus let the mechanic take care of it.
