Identify a Locking tranny by sight?
Can you look at an Automatic transmission with the locking diff and tell it is different from the regular non locking transmission? I bought a new(used) transmission and I was told it was a locking tranny but I have my doubt. I did not see any numbers on it? well anything I could decode anyway. It is from a 99se if that help any. It really doesn't matter to me if it is or not except for the drivers side axle. I have both axles the not locking is still in the car. But I need to know if I can take this other axle back or if I need it.
if im understanding this correctly u have both the driver and passenger side axle from THAT tranny?
if u do just post a picture of teh Drive side(short one) and most of us can easily tell u if it has an LSD

well the one that is in the car is for sure the non lsd. and the tranny I bought did not come with the axles so I bought an axle for the lsd tranny. however I needed to know for sure it the tranny was the lsd tranny or not. I know which axle is which but the new tranny does have the bar in the axle hole so unless that information waqs wrong then I'm going to assume that the new tanny is not the lsd as I was told it was. Do you know it the bar is the visible differnce or does it matter?
