no no no, you guys are all wrong...
Don't use the brakes. Brake dust is an unfortunate side effect of brake pads rubbing against the brake rotors. The only way to avoid dust coming off the pads is to avoid depressing the brake pedal. When traffic slows down in front of you, use the transmission to slow the car (yes, you'll get "transmission dust", but it won't manifest itself as nasty blask dust all over your rims... it'll be pinkish blue powder all over your axles... this is acceptable). If there is traffic stopped in front of you, do not use transmission braking: instead, utilize the shoulder to go right around those silly "brake dusters"...
If you follow my tips, you'll be on your way to a brake dust-free Maxima driving experience!
