Planned rear valve cover gasket replacement - question
99 max- If I have the rear valve cover gasket replaced, does it in any way involve draining coolant?
have some Nissan OE coolant i would then give to the mechanic.
I dont like dexcool.

Nope. But if you have coolant and its been a while since your cars had a flush and fill, then go ahead and do it. Otherwise, you dont have to mess with the coolant to change the rear valve cover gasket.

That's the only thing that makes this job take more then 30 minutes. Follow the steps and do it yourself in my opinion.

Just don't forget to reconnect the rear coolant line like I did. I also replaced the factory hose clamp on it with a screw type that you can get from any hardware store. It's tight back there so it makes future servicing and installation much easier.
I have a thread on my UIM and valve cover gaskets misadventure if you do a search. Otherwise plan on 3-4 hours and take your time. Definitely a DIY job.
Good Luck!
