LED H3 8 SMD fog lights
Fogs too bright
I know im not on the correct thread..its cuz im new, but i had a 8000k H3 installed last week and one side is brighter than the other. I even realized when i first brought my car off the lot it was like that. What is the problem for real.
Judging by the looks of that those lights, I would not get it. It looks like the LED emitters are perpendicular to the base, which means the light is probably going to go straight down and straight up, which means not a lot will actually be sent towards the reflectors in the back and out the front of the fog lights..
I mean, if you just want it to signal people, or just for looks, it should be fine, but if you're using it for actual driving and fog, I don't think it's going to be a good idea.
Also: it looks somewhat just simply soldered on and left to fend for itself. I don't see any heatsinks or any form of protective casing, so heat might become an issue if it's a high wattage light..

I has 36SMT LED bulbs in my stock 97-99 fogs. At night they look nice and bright but yield no output at all. In the day time, they are not that noticeable. I suggest you do not buy these.
I've tried 9-SMD H3 bulbs in my fogs just last weekend. They're interesting looking, but the light output is too weak for my taste... even after removing the hat, which I did in this picture.
Take note of the amber fog on the passenger side:

The point being: if you're going purely for nighttime look as an accent light, then go for it. However, it will be barely noticeable during the daytime, and there will be zero functionality as actual fog lights.

I dont know what piggyback the wiring mean..a friend of mine hooked it up. All i know is he has a relay for everything cuz he installed the 1 piece headlights and the hids fogs also with the headlights. All i did was change the headlight bulb (9006) because i had a kit for the original headlights. And he also put in new foglights themseleves so everything is new. I mean i really dont know why one side is brighter...i can see that the beam on the duller side is further, but the bright one is like aimed directly down at the ground. I tried turning the bulbs around, but i guess it doesn't matter. If u can help me id appreciate it.

I happened to have an old OEM lens to play with last weekend. Baked it open in the oven, removed the hat, and experimented with an LED bulb, as well as painting the reflector. Neither approach was appealing to me, so I'm very happy for the opportunity to experiment before committing to a course of action I'd end up regretting.
