Head Replacement

Hey guys,

Well im about to be on the home stretch of putting the maxi back together. As most of yall know I blew a head gasket. I decided to go ahead and pull the motor and have both of the heads resurfaced. Quick question tho... my smart self decided to turn on of the heads over to admire the pretty job that the machine shop did and 3 of the valve lifers fell out. At the time I didnt know that they were or could all be different. So I put them back in random holes. My question is, what are the odds that the 3 that fell out were all different? If they were whats the worst that would happen? Im just trying to figure out if ive screwed myself or not. Whats yalls input on this?

O man!

Im no engine expert so Ima try my best. I wd say they all different for each stroke. I think thats why they have four lifters. Im sure all looked alike, but they prolly have different toleranace.

But idk..im jus takin an educated guess. U might wanna ask this question in the motor section.

kudos for tryin to do the head gasket ursellf tho. All this for an EGR CEL right?? Sucks

Yeah, thats kinda how it started. But to make a long story short while switching out the knock sensor I noticed water sitting on top of my intake valve. I have so far changed spark plugs, knock sensor, a fuel injector, coolant temp sensor, thermostat, both head gaskets and 3 motor mounts lol. Def keeping the car now. I ended up just checking the the clearances on every lifter. Better to be safe then sorry.
