Just got beat by a CRX, twice

and the worst part was that he had black fenders and a black hood on a silver car. But he pulls up next to me at a light, i rev it, get no responce. Rev it again and still nothing. So i figure this guy doesn't want any. Then the light turns green and hes spinnin his tires and catches me off guard. Nothing much my maxima (stage stock) could do but try to keep up. He slowly started to walk away. Then we hit traffic at a stop light and he disappears in my rear view, and then i see him turning onto the interstate, so i switch lanes and get on the interstate and wait for him. he pulls up next to me and then waits, downshifts, i downshift, we go, he's jogging away then as my max starts to come back (going about 90-95), he shuts down right infront of me as i maneuver around a car in my lane. I was and still am depressed that my maxima lost to a crx. I know for a fact that he had an exhaust (with carbon fiber muffler) and an intake, and what else, i will never know. Maybe its time i buy an intake or exhaust. Had the race kept going, do you think i could have over come him? I have descraced my car

There is no way a stock CRX can kick a Maxima's ***. I know that many civics and crx's swap the VTEC Integra's engine so I assume that's what happened, or it could be laughing gas...

it had the intake and exhaust (CF for maximum performance), limo black tint, corner markers, and black front end. I know it wasn't stock but what are those cars like in the higher speeds? My first incounter with one of this caliber. Actually, not that i think about it, i know it had more than that b/c i have raced another CRX around town that had an intake and exhaust and he didn't stand a chance. and i've run with a stock one. But he didnt 'fly' off, so i doubt he had NOS or turbos. I could be wrong though. if he did, that was sad

my friend did a lsr swap in his crx. That guy could have had a gsr vtec in his car. stock gsrs run the 1/4 about low to mid 14s and the crx is lite as hell so it pulls like crazy at high speeds.

Weight has very little effect at high speeds.

Stock GSR runs low to mid 15s you mean. In a CRX they are good for mid-high 14s.

I saw a civic that had a GS-R engine with Type pistons and cams. It was running 13.8 in the 1/4. N/A engine with CAI and full exhuast work. Pretty impressive, I'm just really begingin to re-consider performance mods on the maximas. Kind of like a convertable top on a stationwagon....it just doesn't work well.

Stock CRXs are NOT fast...

Just because they're light, doesn't mean they're fast. The one you were racing must have had many mods, if not an engine swap or forced induction like so many of them had.
The 1991 Honda Civic CRX Si 5spd. runs 0-60MpH in 8.7 seconds and a 1/4 mile in 16.5 seconds.
However their weight poses great function with higher capacity engines (B16As and soforth). However a stock one cannot even hang with auto. Maximas, so maybe you should reseach that particular car a little more...

If it makes you feel any better, my friend has a CRX with a 94 Integra LS motor in it (B16). he didnt "walk" me but he did win by about a car and a half.

Yeah that car wasn't stock in anyway. I have 2 freinds that have CRX'x and they could run almost any maxima on this board if they are not supercharged. They both have JDM prelude SH engines in them and is worked, meaning that the internals are not stock, so be aware of those little cars they could be leathal.

that little crx weighs 2 pounds of the move. rolling start races, an auto max has a hard time with them...
