Cam Shaft Position Sensor O ring

Im leaking oil from my camshaft pos. sensor and i took it out to use the o ring as a reference when i go up to the store to pick up a new O ring. Well my sensor had no O ring on it.

Can anyone shed light as to why this would be and give me an idea or a picture as to what size the O ring is?

I don't know why that happened but I recommend you take the sensor to the parts store and find an o-ring that fits it. The important thing is that when the o-ring is fitted in the groove of the sensor that a slight amount of the o-ring protrudes above the OD of the sensor. I'd say about the thickness of a fingernail is all. It's ok if the o-ring needs to stretch a little bit when it's in the sensor groove, and you don't want an o-ring that fills the full width of the o-ring groove.

Make sure the o-ring is lubed with a bit of oil and it should pop into the engine cover snugly.

i thought i was the only one. when i went to take the sensor out and grab the o ring as a reference for a new one i was rather surprised to find that the o ring was missing entirely. i too have no idea where the o ring could have gone...lol
