Cattman CAI VS. Place Racing CAI

I'm gonna buy a cold air intake. I had my mind set on the Place Racing thing-a-ma-gig, but now after hiring all this hype about the Cattman. I'm wondering which to purchase. guys, please give me info on both and your opinon of which is best. Noise, price, and power are my main concerns. any advise would be greatfully appreciated. Thanks Yall.

The Cattman CAI is the PR CAI...

Place Racing sells their Cold Air Intakes to Cattman. The only difference is that the Cattman one is black, and the Place Racing ones are colored. EXACT SAME PRODUCT. Greg at www.CustomMaxima.com also sells the Place Racing CAIs for our car, in silver. As a matter of fact only two companies make Cold Air Intakes for out car: Place Racing and WarpSpeed Performance.

read on a thread somewhere here on the org that AEM now makes a CAI for our cars. I didnt know that. I bought a Bypass valve from them to put on my Place Racing CAI, but i dont know if its true that AEM makes a CAI for us now.

They say they make one but if you call them direct and try to order one they will tell you they aren't quite out yet. It's one of those "With over 50+ applications" even though they don't quite have 20.

Re: thanks people

Got this off of the Cattman website, i think they come in more colors than simply black

Comes standard in black, silver, red, blue and yellow are available by special order for a $20 surcharge. Installation of the 1995-2001 CAIs requires 3.25" drill-mounted hole saw.

WSP CAI

Yes, WSP makes CAIs for Maxima's. Dallas called me yesterday to update his latest trip. We now will be offering K&N filters on all of our CAIs. We didn't talk about a price hike. See our web site.

Can you please update the pictures, or post some here please ? Does your CAI kit come with the same things the PR CAI and Cattman come with ? (tubing behind MAF sensor, adaptors, bolts, ect) If your price remains $140 with K&N, then I will be interested. Please let us know.

Craig, I will talk to Dallas about some new PICs. We plan on a new web page in short order, new pics, etc. Yes, she comes with EVERYTHING you will need to install, except high price.

Fast reply !

One more Question Dan. Do your CAI's look exactly like this: (with the line textures & colors on the adaptors, ect)

I am into the show as much as the go.

Thanks

WSP CAI

Yes, they look a lot like the Place Racing model, slightly diffenent hook up for the sensor. Interesting, I saw my first 4th Gen PR CAI in Calif. several weeks ago. We haven't had much luck in a good chrome finish. People seem to really like the red and blue. We will be powder coating a new batch soon. Last time yellow didn't sell very well.Call Dallas if you have a specific color, we may be able to help you. 1-866-801-9338

FYI, the CAI was my first mod. I gained 7hp with my PR CAI. It's red in color as well, and matches the STILLEN on my FSTB very nicely...

Xtreme5053, I believe the line textures you are talking about are the marks placed on pipe when it gets bent. It's nearly impossible to eliminate completly as the mandrel bender has to grasp the pipe tightly, new dies help a lot.Hope this helps a little.
