new motor?
If I get a complete motor from a 2000-01 maxima. What else do I need to get from the junk car to make everything plug and play on a 1997? and picture would be nice of the part if possible.

Thanks and I found some posts on the subject but most seem to be aurguing between the de-k and 3.5L. I'm boosted and I want to stay that way. Also I've found (2) 2001 DE-K motors in my area with less than 30,000 miles for a reasonable amount so I thought I could upgrade(refresh) and replace fairly easy. I'm pretty handy with tools but the conversion is something I'm worried about. I want to prep the motor on a stand so when I go to drop it in I just have remove the current motor and then drop the new DE-K in to the engine bay and plug in the conectors from my engine and hoses and go.

a few issues.
1. the hose routing has to be almost completely redone
2. your TB will be back further therefore you will need to reroute your boost piping
3. the IACV from the 5th gen max's are finiky at best on the 4th gen ecm.
4. some connectors and wiring will need to be redone...
so you obviously have more than a few options. but what are your priorities?
Do you require No codes? is this a DD? how much time and money are at your disposal?
You can do a swap for usually cheaper, and if its a hybrid alot less headaches.
You can use your 4th gen IACV as well as your injectors so you dont require rewiring or a screwy idle. this can be done by using the 4th gen Lower intake manifold, for the injectors, as well as the 4th gen TB or the 5th gen TB with the IACV blocked off and a Adapter plate for the IACV.
I currently have 2 00VI's for sale, one that is a complete kit and one that is a hybrid.
also, if your running boost im hoping you have your EGR blocked off right?
a 3.5 swap can be done without codes, its almost bolts right up, but it will take a bit more time.

I have all the time in the world and I do not want any codes I dont have any now and I dont want any when I'm done. I can get the complete motors for around $600 I really dont need it but I figured I could get one and work on it and when done I could swap for a low mileage engine with a few extra ponies and I dont not have the egr blocked now I have the stillen v2 kit and I don't remember blocking the egr????

you gonna need to make sure you get the motor with complete wire harness, espcially the injectors and harness, make sure non of the rear coilpacks are missing(front ones are interchangeable), then offcourse you need the IACV adapter plate, apexi VAFC, or rpm switch to control the 00VI...00 DE-K still uses EGR, 01 motors does not, either way youll be ight......then it should be a str8 swap

I just bought a De-K complete motor with half the harness cut out at the fire wall, fuse junction box and such. (the whole motor for $200 =D )
I want to drop the motor in using my 4th gen harness, what else do I need in order to have this thing running good w/ no MIL lights.
For the variable induction (intake manifold) i was told that i can use a V-tec controller.
Do i need anything else? Does the DE-K have extra sensors the old one doesnt? Whats not going to match up?
