Painted Engine Cover

Painted Engine Cover
I know many people have done this but I would like to recommend Dupli-Color High Heat Orange with Ceramic paint. Its amazing and looks like powdercoating, drys very quickly and its very durable. its a bit expensive at about $7-8. There are no drips and this is just 2 coats with about 10 minutes between coats.
I plan on painting my intake manifold in a few months with the same.
Heres a pic. I masked off the v6 3000 Twin Cam 24 V so it stays the factory black with silver lettering, but the rest is the burnt-orange. Supposedly it will last up to 1200 degrees but honestly any paint would probably be fine for a plastic engine cover, so its way overkill.

I'm painting mine - with Krylon Fusion Antique White - I won't be taping off that whole section however as the original color on it is ruined, so I'll paint the whole thing white and then come back with the red for the letters.

Everytime I go to paint it starts raining... bah, I'll get it done eventually... (mine has sitting on my speaker in the living room for over two weeks).

yeah I detailed mine back in august with some engine brite foaming degreaser and a hose, made it really shiny. After a salty winter, its actually really nasty in there again and the engine cover stands out as the only good looking thing in there. I dont know how 2 coats of the stuff will stand up to degreaser, ill probably have to remove it when i spray in a few months to reshine it all.

so i guess ill chirp in too, seeing how the previous owner sold my ae cover
broke my cover one day out of frustration. few weeks later before i threw it away, i said eff it and tested something out before i threw i junked it.
results:
bondo plastic filler:
lots of sanding, high temp primer
end result:
crack ended up showing through..but i get crazy compliments on it, so it stays on until i pic up an ae cover.
+ i put a red LED strip under the cover hooked up to switch...ppl like that for some reason lol

I used some of the high-temp Duplicolor and its held up rather well, considering I did it 2 years ago.
I actually kinda just halfassed this one, used masking tape over the lettering...and no I didn't care to tape the "Twin Cam 24 Valve" because that would have taken forever, lol.
And sorry for the crappy quality....IIRC, it was taken on my BB.

My kids camera is a fail - so I'll have to try to get pictures when I have the Central Florida Maxima Meet (Logan's Roadhouse on Sandlake in S. Orlando on April 18th - and every 3rd Sunday thereafter)
