Busted windshield Grrrrr...
Was coming back from the store, not even a mile from home when I hear a loud BANG. Didn't see anything, nobody around, no other cars on the road. What ever hit it, hit it good! Nice big spider about the size of a quarter and a U shaped split right under it.
One the positive side, it's going to be nice to have a crisp clear new piece of glass.
After 175,000 miles, my windshield looks like crap anyway.

I feel your pain! My 95 max (rebuild) needs a windshield for inspection, and I also have an 03 Wrangler riding on 33's, Ive owned it for a little over 2 yrs. and have put in 3 windshields, and its in need of another one !!!
Been there! I was diving 50 or 55 on a back road years back in my companies NEW box truck. I dont know what hit the windshield, but it was loud as a gun shot. Scared the crap out of me and my co worker. Crazy stuff.
I want to replace my windshield, its all pitted. I have one rock chip and its been there since 04 or 05 hasnt got any bigger. I have a hard time replacing something that is not broken. I know if I replace it, soon after I will get behind and big rig on the highway and crack it.....

my maxima is the only car i have ever owned that i havent had to replace a windshield on (knock on wood).
On my first car I had a huge rock just smaller than a baseball come flying at me on the freeway. I just kind of saw it coming at me but I couldn't go anywhere because of surrounding traffic so it hit me square in the windshield. It was amazingly loud but the windshield kept it from coming through, but I ended up with a huge crack that kind of looked like a giant onion cut in half

whoa whoa whoa, my father drives an 18 wheller, and it never flings rocks, what flings are those ------- suped up f-250's with sky jacker kits and stuff, they just decide to chuff and shoot up rocks....
I have 3 chips in a diagonal line that run right through my line of sight, one was there when I bought it, and the other two have come in the last few years. I've been really temped to make an insurance claim for a new windshield (free glass ftw!).
This huge rock came flying up on my windshield and must have hit it just right not to crack it, but it scraped the glass and it will NOT go away (at least its on the far passenger side and away from my line of sight) but it left a scrape probably about 1"x4"
I feel the same way as JSutter though, if I were to replace it, a rock would fly up and crack it the next day...
i had put a new windshield last year on mine and a month later i had a huge *** crack on it, i guess some how there was a chip and the texas heat did its magic and made it crack. now i have a huge crack that goes from the bottom driver side corner all the way across to the passenger side. then my little brother opened my hood and thinking it can go all the way up like a honda he managed to make a crack on the passenger side from bottom to top on the out and in windshield glass. but at least the windshield isnt as bad as as it was when i first bought the max, i couldnt even see out of the windshield lol...
