auto tranny "Short Shifter" Mod gone Wrong

Hey guys. so i'm working on selling my current 97 to replace it with porably another 99. I'm trying to repair everything so it's in tip top shape and I have one snaffoo that I can't figure out on my own:

Few years ago I did the "short shifter" mod on my automatic shifter. It works fine for me when i drive and does not impede on driving functionality but when ever anyone else tries to drive it i have to instruct them how to shift it, by pushing it down.

So this won't be a good selling point, also cause the entire shifter is removable cause I did a half assed job on it. This whole concept was dumb in the first place lol. Anyways how can I replace the shifter and the **** without replacing my transmission? Thanks guys, all the help is appreciated.

The shifter for the auto shouldn't be that hard to 'replace' with the OEM style - I'd say look at one of the 'part out' threads and get the shifter.

well the problem really is the inner rod. I literally cut it with a jig saw to shorten it, so I need the entire assembly. But if I can get the whole thing off a parts car, then awesome. Is that an option?
