97 trunk on a 95 Gone Wrong..HELP

So i have a 95 and i just swapped over a 97 trunklid. bolted on the trunk swapped the tails but i have one problem. The trunk won't pop open. from the keyless remote or the button on the inside. the trunk popper is functional . I changed the latch even and put my 95 latch on the 97 trunk. still nothing. Has anyone ever ran into this problem? im stuck now as i cant get into my trunk without going through the backseat

try to get the trunk open and see if its lined up right. also try pulling up on the trunk as someone hits the button and see if it opens.

If its the valet lock...

I don't think you can get in even with the key, so that will be the test.

If the valet lock is activated, I'm pretty sure only the original key will work. But let us know either way

I bought my Max used and clearly didn't have the original key (or for whatever reason, the key wouldn't open the trunk either). My brother was able to reach in with a ski pole and flick the little lock off. Finally it opened.

So what is the purpose of the valet lock anyways? Why would you want to require someone to use the key to open the trunk?

because some of these idiots around here, (NOT THE ORG MEMBERS) dunno how to open our trunk with the button on our doors. in fact i had my car at a shop for an oil change. and i had the stuff in my trunk. and the guy calls me how do you open your trunk? the key i gave him doesn't open the trunk. so he calls me ask me how to open the trunk, and i had to tell a guy 4 times where the button is. He still never got it. so i had to walk downstairs, out the door, get in my GS, ride to the shop, (15 minutes away) go to my car and point with 1 hand and 2 toes where the trunk pop button was. But anyways.. some people aren't maxima inclined, so. anyways.

-enough of my rant-
