Really strange problem- did I fix it?

Hey Guys:

Here is the background: 1996 Auto GXE with 140,000 miles on the clock

Here is what happened:
-Showed code 0302 the other day
-Cleaned the EGR tube last night (top was blocked)
-Drove fine last night, but things went downhill today......
-Shifting hard from 1-2
-Not wanting to upshift or downshift when it should
-Erratic idle on start up (not every time)
-Poor idle at a stop (not every time)
-Transmission started going crazy- kept going into neutral as I was driving down the road

I limped it home and started searching the org for answers. After a half hour of searching, I decided to check the TPS. When I went out to check it, I found that the connection that I was going to test was loose. I snapped it down tight and took the car for a drive. Beat the crap out of it on some back roads and could not replicate the problem.

Here is my question:
Could the loose connection on the TPS have been my problem, or do you think I am in for more trouble tomorrow?

Thanks in advance for your opinions/thoughts/jokes/etc.

Hmmm, well, you could try to unplug it or leave the connection loose and see if that replicates the symptoms you described. If that indeed causes the issues to result, I'd say its safe to say that you have fixed the issue once its plugged in firmly.

I'm pretty sure you fixxed your problem. the transmission uses that sensor to determine how much throttle your giving it so it can down shift if you give it a good amount of gas. without that sensor tranny was going crazy im sure.

Jus kidding. Yea, if u plugged the TPS back in then u good.

Heres a quick question tho. Blocked EGR is unburned carbon buildup. How often u use fuel injector cleaner. I use the stuff regularly with my car, no EGR issues.

I use the fuel injector cleaner on every other fill up or so. I think that is why I was able to make it to 140K before the blockage became an issue.
