knock sensor harness

I pulled the knock sensor harness to inspect it and I found the male 2 pin distal end has 2 wires connected but the wire is taped down to a single wire that goes to the proximal 2 pin female side that plugs into the knock sensor.

Is this the normal wiring set up?
