Clutch Problem?

Finally reached my 15 replies. Recently i've been hearing a noise coming from under the hood of my car. I drive a 5 sp. and when the clutch is almost let off when starting from first or sometimes it happens after the clutch is let out, i hear a clank noise. Sort of sounds like a rollercoaster chain sound but only one clank and that's it. My clutch is fairly new and grabs nice but it really seems like its something in that area. Any ideas?

tob can go on the wrong way it has lil tabs that hold it the right way the wrong way seems to put it at an angle a bit

to the op yes it could very well be your input shaft bearing they tend to go on our 4th gen but i had a noise coming from my car when i let out on the clutch it would make noise when i changed my clutch and put a new throw out bearing the noise went away so just saying before u service the input shaft bearing check the tob and clutch fork

i know we all arent made of money

Definitely convincing to go and change the TOB first. Hopefully its not causing "a lot" of damage by driving.

i am not trying too be smart here, but the TOB makes noise when it not under any presure so that mean if he press the clutch he would get a noise buy when he relese the clutch then there would be no noise if it happens to be the TOB......now what he is say is the is that when he release the clutch he gets the noise,i have the same problem i change the TOB spend $350.00 too do that and it ended up being the input sharft bearing now i am trying to get a box that is my best bet.

i know what u saying...the TOB shouldnt make any noise under load or not. I would think it would make noise when transitioning from no load to under load. Its only gonna make noise when it starts to make contact. Once the TOB is engaged shdnt be no noise cuz the pressure has been applied to engage the entire clutch which is more axial force to engage than resistance to engage. The TOB will alway WANT to engage. If installed at an angle, the TOB may "SEARCH" for its center before seating correctly.

OP,
I would hurry and open the tranny and see whats goin on in there. U dont wanna wait on this and bust the input shaft.

my tob was so wore out that when i let out on the clutch the bearing kept spinning freely so once i pushed the clutch in an let out it made a noise and didnt quit till i pushed the clutch in i replaced my clutch in jan and it came with all the stuff tob preasure plate all that jazz and i havent had a noise yet either way the op will have to take the trans off and he will be able to see what causing the problem

op when you take off the transmission grap the input shaft an wiggle it if it has a play in it then thats prolly ur problem

The only thing thats making me not go right ahead and change those is because this just started happening quite recently. The clutch isnt fresh installed or anything so im pretty sure its nothing major like upside down or not straight. The only thing is the bearing might be worn down. Only thing is the descriptions dont really match my problem to much. The sound only lasts half a second and its only when i roll out of 1st gear. From that point on it doesnt make any noise after.
