do i need this sensor in my air filter?

every since i bought my max its had this after market air filter the ones from autozone but this one has a drill in the center of it and someone put a sensor in it and screwed it in.

if i get new air filter should i just disconnect it? or try and do what they did to it?

the sensor looks like metal on the inside of the filter and has a 2 wire electrical clip.

I would go to the junkyard and swipe a stock intake to get your HP back.

That sensor is supposed to be somewhere else on the stock setup, whoever installed the intake relocated the sensor there, so you should probably keep it.

well i planned on keeping it like this just put a new filter on it. it has plenty of HP if anything more than stock and sounds nice when i floor it. all you hear is air being sucked through the filter sounds like a light turbo lol.

i think im ganna just drill new holes for it. the filter that was on it was 3 years old over 50,000 miles on it lol it was rusted and clogged.

You don't have to have it inside the filter. Plenty of people including myself just have the sensor strapped somewhere in the vacinity of the air filter, still connected just not inside the tube. Its an air temp sensor, so the delta between the air inside and outside is not that much.
