RPM's drop after starting
Up until this morning I wasn't sure if what I am about to describe was normal, now I know its not. I turn the key and the car starts fine every time. The RPM's jump to 1k or so for a second and then they should settle down to around 800 right??? Well, for a while mine have been dropping to 400, then recovering. Then it got worse and they were going to 200 and almost dying but this morning it did die. Then I started it back up and once it gets going its smooth as can be. The engine runs perfectly. Whats wrong?? I have an intake and y pipe. Thanks.

Mine did that too. You can take it in, and they fixed it in just a short time. The sheet said "Base idle correction"... Good luck!

Found this on a search and have this problem
Sorry to bring up this old thread, but I found it in a search. I am having this problem every other day. The car will sit for a while. When I start it up, the engine cranks right up and then the RPM drops to 400 and then the car dies. It will die 2 or 3 times until finally I have to give it a little gas to get it going. After that it start fine. This has been going on for about a week. The car starts, but wants to stall.
Someone told me It may be water in the gas, but I am getting good gas mileage and no power loss. My starter is new (4months old), but the engine starts, just stalls out like it is not getting enough gas or air. Any thoughts?

This is not an old thread. I posted it last night and fixed my problem. Warm up your engine, turn it off, and unplug the TPS sensor. Turn the car back on, rev it to 2k-3k twice and let it sit for a minute. Check the idle. It should be 700. (Mine was 400 at this step and died during the process) If its not adjust the screw until it is. Then plug the TPS back in and your problem should be fixed!! You are experiencing the EXACT same thing I was and this fixed mine. Good luck!
