I also got mine in the mail today around 12pm and installed it in about an hour. Only thing is that my exhaust was jimmy rigged and ALL welded as a one- piece from a lil exhaust shop. So I rented an exhaust pipe cutting tool and cut a chunk out and where the "cat" was supposed to be (i just have a pipe there) so I drove 25 miles to an exhaust shop where one of my clients is the manager and he welded a flange in exchange for a 12 pack of Coronas.

Yea 25 miles of my Max sounding like a Chevy with a 350 so deep and butt tickling at low RPMs but so worth it on the way back.

Didn't get much chance to test it cuz the floor was still wet from the rain and my rear struts are still blown but I definitely noticed an improvement in sound and upper RPMs

I don't know whats up with my exhaust and my pipes but after I installed my y pipe my maxima kinda sounds like an old cavalier z24.

Now all I need is a better muffler with twin pipes and im in business!

well as of right now there is a big difference. i think it just took my max a couple of times starting it up and driving it a bit for it too kick in. i def notice power gain once it hits around 4k rpm and above. i need to get some pics up off my phone of my old y pipe too show what condition it was in. lol. i really do like the sound it gives my exaust. it sounds pretty bada**. i am very happy with it as of now

I went on the highway today and gave it a few runs and I definitely noticed a pleasant surprise after 60mph... the speedo needles moves a lot faster and you feel it pull harder than before. It gave the Max0rz a slightly different tone... kinda 4 cylinder sounding at WOT but it doesnt sound too bad

If you guys want I can make a small video clip and see if it captures the sound and I'm driving... I may even toss in a few WOT scenes if you guys want. I know there's a few guys here who are wanting a WS ypipe but undecided so this may help decide

Look up a member here called "Kzoosho" and send him a message, he'll give you a price on them since these are custom made and not to be found anywhere that sells aftermarket parts.. Search for LED tails. Back OT sorry peeps

I couldn't feel anything on my auto. This is one of this things where most people convince themselves that there is a noticable gain. I also did a cali to fed conversion so I was really expecting something. The reason why I wasn't pissed because the Supercharger that I installed after wouldn't have been good with 2 precats. I believe that there is a gain but people exaggerate it tremendously.

By no means am I trying to bash the product. Installation was flawless and replacing that Cali pre-cat front manifold along with the y-pipe also had some weight savings.

The thing that I am sure that will give a *** dyno appoved gain is an 00vi.

How loud is your exhaust with the y pipe?

Considering I had an exhaust leak before I installed the y pipe its kinda hard to tell cuz its real quiet now but from last I remember in stock form, its not THAT much louder under normal driving. During WOT you'll hear it but its not like "fart can" loud. You'll see once I post a video

Do you think that your muffler is rusted out? Just a thought because mine is only slightly louder at a certain rpm. You know the high speed your car idles in the morning? that is when it is it's loudest. I thought it was quite quiet but it has that slight GM v6 sound at around 1000-2000 rpm. WOT is still pretty quite for me. It definatly will not turn heads.

EDIT: OH Damn, I read your post completely wrong. Yeah, I went from 2 precats to none and it is only slightly louder.

I have a good condition 2001 Maxima muffler on my 95 and its not rusted nor loud

So here´s a quick video, not quite happy with it because there was traffic and I dont really like going fast around other cars cuz many people tend to not use turn signals or check blind-spots. I´ll probably make another one tonight around midnight on an open highway.

Here´s another one, no speeding at all.. just WOT to speed limit. Keep in mind this is recorded in a Maxima with 332,700 miles so it´s not gonna accelerate as fast as one with 110k miles

They are new along with new Progress springs... and they handle quite well. If you saw anything with body roll, it was just the tripod leaning as it was not tied down in the back seat

Navi is a Pioneer AVIC D3 which is an older model. You can probably pick one up now for about 300-400 on ebay or amazon but back in the day it was a $1000.00 unit

oh nice. i might have to look for one of those. and i think the reason mine sounds a little louder might have to do with the prcai i have installed but who knows. i no as of now im satisfied with the y pipe. are you?

i also have another Q. yesterday i was driving to my friends house and when i get there my cel turns on. before i installed my y pipe it was on and i thought it was because the y pipe being in two different pieces. after i installed the new one it went off for a couple of days and now it came back on. i think im going to go to autozone and have them pull the code. but if it is because of the y pipe why would the light come back on after a couple of days?

No problem.... I noticed my fuel mileage go up even with the spirited driving noticed in the video. I got 24mpg which in most cases where I drive how I did in those videos it would be 18-19 mpg. Usually it takes granny driving to get 23+ mpg so I wonder what it'll be like to drive like grandma

yea cold air intakes are really more for sound. i guess they would help the performance a little if you install other things like a y pipe, mevi/ 00vi, or catback

Yeah I mean I have my y pipe. It adds a little power but with an auto, it is negligible. Cant do much with a car this old. But hey, I still love my max, still faster than new carolla's and camry's

Yeah, the I4 cammrys. The v6 destroy the older Q45s which should be faster than the 4gen maximas.

I don't know, I wouldn't say destroy... my buddy has (1992maximase30) has a a 97SE and his mom has a Q45 and man that Q45 moves! I think it may be faster than my Max if not just as fast. The Camry just may be faster but no way will it destroy it

Awesome, in IL only 96+ vehicles get emissions testing... in other words, only cars that come "equipped" with OBDII

This explains why my old '85 Benz was never called in recently despite our other older '85 being called in a few times when we had it many years ago. They used to stick the tailpipes in a tube and measure its emissions with a big fancy machine. Well, I guess my '97 will be called in someday. *****.

Yea, the very last emission test I had was in 2005 on my 3rd gen. They basically put it on a dyno type looking machine and measure the gases from the exhaust.
