Over Priced??

The maxima is a wonderful car. In fact, I have been considering buying a second one to drive while i attempt to do the 3.5 in mine.... So as i was surching i came across this. Dont get me wrong. The car is extremely nice, Its basically perfect with extremely low miles.... But $7,650???? This is a little high isnt it?? Whats your guy's thoughts?

I purchased my i30 with similar miles a few years back for $6000. That seller can go to hell.

i purchased my 98 i30 for $50 a month ago. it blows his 99 away btw other than the miles on it.

Take that to him for negotiation lol.

ya terrible deal. Even if the car came from a vault with 0 miles its not worth that much just the reality of the market

this is a retail price though so maybe its fine. for a private used car even 3000$ would be tough

I've seen plenty on Craigslist from small dealers asking for $4995 and $5995 for cars with between 100-150k. They're just aiming high to start.

That car, even with only 67k miles, is still only worth about 4.5-5k tops.

I bought my 98 back in 2004 with 83k miles for 8k (granted it's a GXE), but to say that essentially the same car, 6 years later, has only declined a few hundred dollars in value. Please son...

well, im looken for a max for my buddy and ive stumbled accross some that run higher than 8k... the one im looking at for him now is 6795 with 87k... its a 99 white GLE auto with grey leather interior... even the dash is grey... for this car, id say its worth it if he can talk them down a bit. but that car, with its color combo... i say its way to high... thats my least favorite color combo out of them all... but thats just me...

They kinda suck at sales pitches... IMO

What makes that rare? theres a million 4th gens out there, thats part of the appeal, cheap parts!

The mileage isn't that big a deal.

Haggle it down to a lower price, or search for a better price, its not even leather.

Geez, my car only has 120k on it. Terrific condition, very clean, no rust. I can maybe get like 5 grand for it lol. I shd sell it use that money for a MT 6th gen lol.

OP,
Blue book on the I30 is about 5 grand, even in excellent condition. Street value is a different story. If someone willin to pay 7 grand then thats the street value. hell for 7 grand i can get a reasonable mileage 02-03 maxi. Im lookin at the prices now!!

I just bought a 97 GLE plum(not crazy bout the color) black leather, bose, abs, 144k miles. the car runs great, has a bad front bank o2 sensor, needs a new ac compressor clutch bearing, needs shocks/struts and has minor cosmetic damage on back doors(city car) and i paid 2500!! i absolutely LOVE my maxima. she needs some tlc, but a wonderful car overall. the deals are out there, you just have to keep looking and be patient

totally but im a used car market expert.

I couldnt guarantee i would get another maxima to tell you the truth. Theres a really sweet 2002 celica for sale here for 6k.

Id get whatever is the best deal. I love nissans I have three right now lol. But I like toyotas and hondas too. I have two nissan cars and a truck

I think california is just about the butt end of kbb value

It tells my my 98 i30 is worth 3400$

if someone offered me 5k i think theyd get a deal my car is pretty sweet it has 198k miles on it though. Id find something better though for 5k. I dont know what but id find something better. Even if its just a smalls step up of a fifth gen max, I think those are better.

Very overpriced my dude... convinced my friend to buy a 96 max for $2500 with only 82K and it was pearl white with black leather which was in excellent condition. Not even wrinkles was in that leather.... I told him when he signed for it that if he was to ever consider selling it, I got dibs

little high , talk him down....

just got a 96 gxe 5 speed w/81000, one owner, for 2800 needed a couple little things but i would talk him down a bit or keep looking. The car I just bought was listed at 4,000 on auto trader, drove 5 hrs to look at it .."im in pa car was in oh" had check engine light on...."he acted surprised!haha" drove it to check codes needed knock sensor , rear o2 sensor , and purge valve. changed knock and o2 purge went away... all it needs now is cv axels and hopefully im good ...so if I were you try to bicker him down ,,,,and use kelly bluebook to get a good gauge at seller prices , private party ect ect nada is good too....also bought my girl a 96 gxe one owner, auto, 119,000 miles, like 2 weeks before that...hers was all ready to ride and what not. only paid 3500 for that and made the guy pay the state sales tax on it...lucked out there he was a cool dude ...money talks so go with cash make an offer if he wont take it walk away...cuz noone is gonna scoop that right up with that price IMO...

Ditto on what snicklefitz said.
I got my 97 GLE in very good condition with 150k miles - $2800 WITH TAX from dealer.
IMHO HUGE ripoff. Tell him you will give him 3k cash, or he can spend the next year trying to sell it.
