i think the junk yard parts might be easier to find.

the same exact part for a maxima and a prelude such as shocks, the prelude costs a lot more. like kyb agx and tokico illumina.

there are more parts for sale for a prelude. like bilstein shocks, you cant really compare because they just never existed for a maxima.

Parts for a maxima are pretty cheap really all things considered. For a prelude too really if you want to compare it to most cars.
Not like a volvo or even a volkswagon or even a ford.

During these years which is the mid 90s honda actually sold a lot of sohc engines. I dont ever want any of those i think they are lame.

i wouldnt want a sohc prelude. I miss my g20 I want something that is at least as zippy as that.
Theres also sohc vtec honda made too that seems retarded. Something really new to sell something really old. correct me if Im wrong some car guy, but honda still sells sohc vtec engines today. theres something retarded about that, I dont think nissan or toyota sell sohc engines.( or mitsubishi or suburu or your mama or hotwheels)

nissan cars are almost all dohc by 95. Im not positive but I own two of them, ive got a sentra and a maxima(i30). I also owned a 91 infiniti g20 it was dohc.... i cant think of a model nissan had that could have been sohc in the 90s. nissan has way fewer motors to offer than honda so just in this past year ive owned a ga 1.6 a vq3.0 and a sr20d thats one of every model except for the altima ...240sx. 300zx is in the same years its dohc. All nissan cars are dohc by the early 90s im almost sure.

maybe the quest? Im just not getting a picture of what engine that uses. the old *** quest has some v6 thing

edit bingo the nissan quest used the sohc vg30 engine thats the sohc nissan in the 90s there is one.sohc until 2002
89-94 Maxima GXE = VG30e which is SOHC but fairly torquy
89-91 Maxima SE = VG30e also

86-99.5ish Pathfinder VG30e and VG33e

93-02 Quest as you mentioned = VG30e-VG33e

VG was actually used for many years. Its not a bad engine with the exception of being heavy and not having a timing chain... or coils lol

OP, just keep your car! You know whats been done and that you can rely on it. Chances are if you dont like the Honda, you'll have a hard time finding another low mileage i30 like yours. Beside, I see those Hondas burning oil and breaking ball joints all the time

i own an i30 and the answer is no. it's not as cool to go fast in little cas. big giant cars are far more impressive to watch move, ad harder to drive msking them more fun, imho. aaand that is by far the worst year on that car.... and silver? black maybe... and those side decal things and the wwwiiiing... maybe in tokyo, where you need a lot of downforce....to escape godzilla....

What engine is he running? I've got a 69 nova that I'm rebuilding. Hopefully going to drop a LS2/T56 in there

327 Original '69 cast bottom end, camel humps bowled and blended. big a$$ chet herbert solid lifter. M22 4speed and ford 9" 500:1 spooled. Popped outta 4th gear last race day and still ran low 12. Thinks he can dip into high 11s.

ya i love my i30. I dont like automatics though.
the prelude is not my perfect car either. I got to learn a little about preludes. this model is really small
I always thought the prelude was a lot like a accord coupe, but this one looks like a crx. Theres a really cool series of acuras based on the euro accord, or the next model or the previous model prelude that are closer to the right size.
Im going to hold onto the i30 because its actually a perfect running car, its even finely tuned.

The interior and the general pick up of this prelude werent really what i expected. it also has paint chips and body rust. It just felt like beauty and the beast . my paint looks garage kept hers looks beach area parked.

I think I want an i30 manual, a acura tl or even a bmw 5 seriesm or a 99-01 g20 manual, the last generation of celica is awesome. the last generation of prelude too.
. or a maxima manual possibly.

a lil off topic....

Im in Mass and i found a 5spd I30 with 130000 miles on it. But the car wont start. Even the dealer mechanic cant get it to start. Even still the dealer wanted $4k for it. The car been sittin in the same lot of 8 months not moving. Its one of the most beautiful cars i have ever seen. Grey exterior, black interior w/ the wood and leather. Bastard dealer wdnt sell me the leather seats even for 800 bucks. Told him we cd jus swap seats. Still sd nope. I wish i had a I30....

THREADJACK: TBH I really like the styling of the first-gen Aurora. If it weren't for reliability issues I'd consider it a Pretty Sweet Ride. The second-gen Aurora really lost it, though.
Yeah first gen was nice I like the luxury and the styling they put in it and it has some power don't know how many hp's but that thing is fast. Second gen got gay, became small and rounded and didn't have as much power.

Did you read about the honda v6 transmission that I posted? Many Acura TLs use the same tranny.

About the manual part, I blew my auto 2-3 weeks after installing my s/c. The transgo shift (not reprogramming) actually caused a slip and killed it fast.

I'll bring it tomorrow to get a 5-speed swap. The auto is great N/A but Horrible for a s/c setup as it doesn't want to shift and redlines.

Id keep my Maxima over any Honduh any day of the week. At least with the Nissan i know quality is in every mile i drive....i mean drove

no they dont come in manual.
the sc300 with a manual is rare. but the sc300 400 is a long running model it was made for 9 years so ... more exist than i30s with manuals
theres actually a sc400 with a seized motor for sale right now that ive checked out a lot lately its a 95.

the sc300 uses the supra motor. it comes stock about 30 hp less than the 400 and its much more tuneable. the 4 liter v8 has just about nothing going for it...

I would indeed rather have a sc300.

It comes with a straight six that has more hp and torque than our vqs as far as i know its liighter it looks lighter to me but i didnt check.

Ok help me understand your logic here stamar.
You would rather have an I6 over a V8 because theres
the possibility of getting performance parts for it ??
This is the 2JZGE we talking about here right ?
What can you get for this motor that would make you trade an
I30 for an SC300.

um the supra motor?

well you can buy the twin turbo jdm engine i suppose. Twin turbo lol. or single turbo....

theres supras with 1000 hp ....

Ya most people that are into the model much prefer the 3 liter i6 to the 4 liter v8 because theres not a huge horsepower difference and it uses less gas. even though the sc400 is going to be top spec in everything else most people would rather have a 2jzge motor in their luxury car than something super rare like a ls400 v8 thats only in two rare lexus models.
Theres one for sale seized here now I just couldnt take on. The motor is not for sale through the jdm sites i looked at, and the transmission is totally unique to the sc400 and would need to be rebuilt if it went bad.

thats from research Ive never owned one.

I wouldnt really actually ever take that project on.

Just out of the box a 2jzge more powerful than a vq. Its older too though. Its better? Yes it is. A vq is a great engine its closer to a mass market engine a 2jzge is your old school supercar engine.

Its not necessarily the motor being better or basically about the same thats better about an sc300, its got a lot going for it. It would have a nicer interior, handles better and has a better aftermarket.
Very reliable... very nice looking. Its a rwd, its just a nicer car what can I say. as far as on paper.... each individual car is different. I wouldnt trade my nice i30 for a ratty sc300 but i know their car would be more desirable if they were similar so id look for like a 92 93 sc300.

People get a little on a tangent about i6 or v6 motors. or h6 i guess. The difference is..... shape. Thats ye old difference, a different shape , a design for a different shape. your v6 is squarer.

Your i6 hood needs to be longer but its way easier to work on. it doesnt matter to me diddly whether its a i6 or h6 or whatever. i6 is better though if everything else is the same.
