Not worth it. If I recall correctly, but don't quote me on it:

1.) VQ35 combustion chambers don't match the bore of the VQ30 block

2.) VQ35 combustion chambers are more prone to detonation than VQ30 chambers, not to mention with them not matching the bore it makes this problem worse.

3.) VQ35 heads on the VQ30 lowers the compression ratio which means you will make far less power NA with 3.5 heads on a 3.0 than with 3.0 heads on a 3.0. Even boosted it isn't worth it because of the above listed detonation and mismatch issues, and the fact that while boosting you can make enough power on 3.0 heads to break just about everything on the car before you run into head flow limitations.

Why are VQ35 heads prone to detonation? If anything they'd be less prone due to their larger cooling jackets.

Back in the early days of the vq35 swap they did that backwards (vq35 short block with vq30 Heads) and that worked out well

I would just rebuild your existing vq35

Whoops, I did some searching, I must have read that backwards. The VQ35 heads are BETTER at knock suppression.
