Massive oil leak, 98 max, right rear
I'm looking at a car with a massive oil leak somewhere near the right rear. From browsing this forum, it looks like it could be the sender unit, o rings on the timing chain cover, RTV gasket sealer, or possibly the oil pan gasket.
From what I could see on the pavement and by wedging myself under the car, it leaks fast, not dripping, but running, and doesn't appear to be coming from the oil pan. Its not up high either, so that rules out the rocker arm cover.
I put in 2 quarts and turned the car over for about 5 seconds (didnt start it as I had pulled out the fuel pump fuse) and after 5 minutes, the entire contents of the 2 quarts was on the ground. What can cause this amount of oil to exit so quickly?

Cranked it for five seconds and let it sit for five minutes and it drained? If that's the case it doesn't sound like the o-rings. Can you see it running out with the motor off? You might have to visually locate the source while its leaking.

yeah, you can see it running out. will a blown oil pressure sender unit allow the oil to just flow out?
I didn't have a chance yet to jack it up and go under it and of course, driving it to a car wash to clean off the engine is out of the question.

You need to really get under the car and look at where it's coming from. I highly douby that amount of oil will come from the timing chain cover or the valve covers. Thers isn't that much pressure around there. Even the oil pan itself doesn't have any pressure in it. I'd definately be looking at either the oil filter or the oil pressure switch. Again, get under the car and see where it's coming from. Hopefully it's not a cracked block...
