Almost at 100K :(

Should I be scared...This is my first car and I am soo afraid to click over to 100K. Right now I'm at 99,500K... Is it bad to be at 100K ?? I feel its gonna lose some value

Dont be scared, man I had over 230,000 in my 91 max before I sold it in 97. The guy that bought it still has it with 270,00 and she still is running strong and looks good. I should have kept it!

fear not! i have 115,000 and my max is doing great. sure, you lose some resale value after 100,000 miles - but the whole resale thing is a losing game, no matter what the mileage is. car's are NOT an investment

exactly, no matter how you slice it, a car is a bad investment. Just live with it.

I have 137000 miles on my 95 and I'm still lovin every minute of it.

Either drive it into the ground or keep driving it until you save enough that you get something much nicer. I mean personally if your car still looks nice and drives great and still is going strong and fast then thats what matters. Dont worry about it until you go to sell it anyway.

If 100K miles is a significant number to you then remember to take a picture of it at that exact mileage. I just did with mine, all 100K original mileage by me...something to look back at when I'm at 150K and 200K miles

You have nothing to fear, Grasshopper. I'm at 184,000+ miles and still going strong.

Ahh, you have another 500 miles before you hit 100k.

100k = official break-in mileage

I remember someone else on the forum (DBM I think) commented that if you treated it right the first 100k miles, it will treat you right the next 100k miles and maybe even more!

So, assuming you stayed away from McD trays and pillows (sorry ericdwong ) in your first 100k miles, you've got a car that will see another 100k miles!!!

I've got 82k miles on my 95 SE now, but I've got a sentimental attachment to it, I'm gonna keep it til it quits! Plus, I like the boxy style more than the 5th-gen body style. All cars are starting to have moon (or half-moon) tailights, and rounded butts and curvy fronts. I hope I find something I like when my Max dies.

Besides, Maximas are known for their long lives. Many on this forum are well over 100k. Just look at alot of the 3rd gen guys too.

relax man

I felt the same way with my 93 Max, which was also my first car. But if you are planning on keeping the car for a while, don't worry Maxima resale value sucks anyways

oh yea, and you can expect a LOT more from a VQ, do your regular maintenance and watch her live longer then you

Like everyone said, if you're worried about losing value, you shouldn't have a car at all.

One note -- lots of banks won't loan on a car with over 100k, and if they do, the term goes down and interest up. Might make it a little harder to sell. Just don't sell it.

100k blahhhhh

Man 100k is nothing. Once you hit 200k then you should start to worry about resale, but even then its too late . 2nd and 3rd gens are well known to go over 200k miles with good maintence. Not reason for the 4th gens not to surpass the older engines.

dont sell it total it

insurance always gives you more than someone buying it would, also, you could take out the fuse for the airbags and when those dont deploy i bet you could talk to nissan and theyd give you something. Also, dont really do this. I take no responsibility if you do this, and it was a joke. But if you do lemme know how it works. I am itching for a newer max.
