NOS bottle placement idea

I am thinking I want to mount my NOS bottle under the armrest... putting that console on a hinge, and having the on/off nozzle the only thing sticking out, on the backside at seat level. So you can't see it, and just reach right there to turn it on. Also, since it is hinged it would be easy to get out. Of course you would lose function of that little compartment, but such is life. Actually, it could be shallowed out and install the switches in there so it is concealed. Yeah ?

I had an idea about putting a little sneaky pete inside the little arm rest compartment thats behind the cup holders and run all the hoses through where the ebrake cable is under the cupholder.

Bottle in trunk 4 safety?

Isn't the typical trunk placement chosen in part for "safety" reasons?

Eg: Hypothetically, aren't you a lot less likely to be injured if a bottle were to explode if it's 5' away in the trunk, behind the rear seat vs. inside the passenger cabin, right next to your rib-cage?

Something to think about. . .
You don't want to end up featured in the next "Darwin Awards email."

If you're thinking "what, me - worry?", do a search for the infamous Nitrous-exploded Maxima site. It's been referred to on the .org numerous times. (Explosion caused by faulty installation - bottle heater was apparently left "on" & caused bottle to catastrophically explode, peeling the car open like a banana).

Maybe someone can post the link if they have it handy?

I have seen that. If you have it installed perfectly there is no chance of that though. Many people run it by the driver.. I have a friend w/ a viper w/ 200shot. (800hp viper... a tad faster then me). As long as installation is perfect there is not chance. Yes those pics are scary of the max explosion, but ... come on, he setup a bottle heater wrong.

I am just wondering if it is physically possible to mount the bottle under there, not saying I am going to do it . And i do agree in all safety sake it wouldnt be the best place.. but behind the back seat would blow passengers in the back apart not to mention the front too...

thats true but for me Its going to be more of a show setup rather than a race set up. Right now im a long way from getting Nitrous but its just an idea.

if you read the instructions correctly.. it says do not mount the bottle in the cabin or the engine of the car.. there is a reason people put it in the trunk

Do you know how long a bottle that is placed in the arm box will last? Like 10 seconds...prob. good for one shot...waste of money. I installed my switches in the glove box to hide them, but the bottle needs to go in the trunk or pos. back seat (I don't suggest that though). I attached a pic of my nitrous install. Good luck.
