Crises!! 97 PTB on 4th gen max, for s**ts and giggles

Hey guys, i was doing this to tickle myself, and I brought my max over to my friends house with a 97 pathfinder throttle body. and apparently we were going to hook it up... Well, here is the thing, It hooks up great, with a bit of "MINOR" work, but it works. the only problem we have is the fact that when you have it in park, it idles at 600-700rpm.. but when you hold your brake and change to R, it goes to 1500rpm, then drops. then when you put it in N, the RPS's raise, then when you put it in D, it SLAPS the transmission in gear.

Now when you drive it, it shifts at 4k RPM every time, or you can say it has a ghetto shift kit? LOL

anyways, why we put a 97 PTB on it? we don't know, we were trying something out, but none the less, the car is drivable with a horrible Shifting time. Anyone know what the cause of this may be?

AND NO, I DIDN'T PUT THE WRONG COOLANT HOSES IN THIS TIME... so my car won't get water in the intake like it did last time.

anyways.. all vaccuum hoses are in the CORRECT spot, all coolant is in correct spot, TB is clean, all wires are in right, And since we changed it, Code p0120 - p1075 -p0304 codes came up. Any suggestions, besides putting the stock stuff back on, would be greatly appreciated. We just want to get this TB to work on this maxima. I might be the first to do this anyways...

regards, Brian

In this thread, there's a link to this.

I'd suggest adjusting your idle.

Notice when i say 1997 PTB, not a newer one.

But here we have another problem. since i aint gonna make a new thread for the problem that i am having now, We reinstalled the original stock TB, and went back to stock everything, but the problem we have is, it idles fine when you run it, but when you give it throttle, it stalls and bogs down. the onboard scanner throws a p0110, p0120, and p0100, at that all deals with the MAF and AIT.. and this is te 5th MAF sensor we replaced this month. what is going on? i really don't think the maf is going out at all. I reset the ECU, about 3 times, disconnecting the battery and removing the ECU harness for about 10 minutes. but that didn't help anything. the same codes came back. Any other things i can try? yes i went to the FAQ page and checked the vacuum lines. They are running correctly. I'm stumped.

Try unplugging your MAF and go through the gears, if its stable then its probably your MAF again.

nope, there both the same size, except for the fact the inside of the TB had 2 little notches on the bottom. does what? i dunno. the reason "brian" put it on was cause he didn't care to read that the TB was suppose to be 70MM instead of same size.. he is new to my maxima..

yet he claims that he will get 500+ hp out of it..

i, "david" just tell him GL..

i'm worried about my own car..

but like i stated before, i might have sold my car, but i still get on here to fiddle around with my ex car.

and thanks to you other guys, it was the TPS. "brian" just put the TPS on the TB and didn't think twice to put it in the correct way. so i had to fix that for him.

the 97 PFTB wasn't to bad actually, it worked. but the problem was it shifted at 4k rpms everytime.. but after that, i just put everything stock for him.

Thanks everyone!!

Its your TPS. My 3.5 swap does the same thing because the tps isnt adjusted completely.
