For those who are wondering, I called Brian Friday and placed my deposit(s).

Looks like we still need one last deposit, and we're ready to roll!

Hmm, I guess I might have been off by one - we have a total of 7 orders now. Let's make sure I haven't missed anything:

1. (anonymous)
2. Cardana24
3. Maxprivate
4. Speedymax99
5. da Wiz
6. da Wiz again
7. Schmellyfartz
8. (your name here)

C'mon #8, whoever you are, let's go! I want to get a car in for fitment ASAP, but nothing moves until we've got 8 orders (and deposits).

Trust me, Ive considred it. But I dont think I would get much for my curent setup. Its not a bolt on. Its all welded in place and would require cutting.

This.

I get 2 more paychecks in the next 48hrs, could be enough, but I'm not sure, I just put down 9/15 cause I know between this payweek and that one, I'm 100% for sure I can do it by then.

Side note: JB Weld ftw

Cut it up and have some Vbands welded on there, this way who ever buys it can piece it together.

Of course we hope to hear from aackshun as soon as possible, but can't we find one more person to sign up? Howzabout each of you guys going out onto the 4th gen and s/c-turbo boards on every maxima forum you can think of (even the smaller regional ones) and try to find one guy. And yes, I'm working on it too.

I can't kick this off till we get the 8th order (usually require 10) and I really don't want to wait until the middle of the month to get this started. My exhaust partner has development time available right now, but perhaps less time then.

Brian, have you posted in the NYC maximas thread I created there? Maybe you can get one more to join in from there. I left the link in a post above.

Why can't we get it started with 7? Im sure we'll get number eight in the development process of the exhaust. We already know aackshun should come through any day now.

lol @ the wizard.

If it's REALLY that big of a deal, I can do it now, but I really don't want to leave myself financially stranded for anything that could occur (For EG. My radiator exploding a few days ago)... Let me hold out till the 8th?? That way I can survive for 7 days w/o money....

Just give me a date that you think would be the lastest for you and your exhaust guy to kick things off.....

Also I'll give you (Brian) a call tomorrow to talk things out.

I might as well get on this. Money is never an issue with me. However I may not be overall happy with the product, but no one around central Mass has a mandrel bender and does custom 3" exhausts.

Also my thought is that you guys are having a hard time getting the 8th person, so it will be alot harder to get a group together in the future for the 2nd batch.

I think that you will be pleased with the result; custom exhaust work can be great, but many more times than not the results will range from dissappointing to disastrous.

Sometimes a second batch is an issue after the first batch was difficult to float, but we were concerned about that with the 5th gen 3" system and it turned out quite well. The guys who installed that first run of 3" catbacks were very pleased, and the product really took off.

Brian,

I want to get in on this but I'm not sure there's enough benefit to move up from your 2.5" catback since I'm not going to go the FI route. In the 5th gen thread no one with a DE-K has even posted a sound clip as that is also a priority and there is worry about the lack of interest if I went in on the 2nd run as I find it hard to expect a 2nd group to buy in. If it sounded like The Law's 5.5 then I'm sold but I'm on the fence at the moment unless I can be convinced otherwise.

The primary difference in sound between a 3" catback on a VQ35DE vs a VQ30DE is a slightly higher pitch on the VQ30DE due to the half-litre less engine displacement. As far as power goes, we won't know till its tried, will we?

Just a FYI, I will be installing the catback on my current setup, and I will try my best to compare the results both on the dyno and through video.

Anyway, now that we've heard from Aackshun, this project becomes "real". I'll make arrangements ASAP for the fitment session, and we'll call that day the official start, and take the $220 deposits then. I will let you guys know which day that is as soon as its set up.

Thanks everybody, I'm excited about this.

I signed on today as well. Think I am #9 and I will try to dyno before and after, possibly on the same day.

I just want a nice bolt on product and not having to run around trying to find a 3" mandrel bender or buying a bunch of pre made mandrel bends to tack weld and cobble togther something.
